Man Sood
Man Mohan Sood (6 July 1939 – 19 January 2020) was an Indian cricketer. He was born in Lahore, and played in one Test in 1960. He played first-class cricket in India from 1957 to 1965. Sood was a middle-order batsman. After top-scoring with 73 for the Indian Board President's XI against the touring Australians in late December 1959 he was selected for the Fourth Test two weeks later. Batting at number nine, he failed twice, and India lost by an innings. He made his only first-class century in 1960-61 when he scored a quick 170 for Delhi against Southern Punjab, adding 290 for the fifth wicket with Ramesh Saxena. Ramesh Saxena
Ramesh Chand Saxena (20 September 1944 – 16 August 2011) was an Indian cricketer who played in one Test match in 1967. He was a great batsman in the Bihar Ranji Team and was a mentor to many upcoming cricketers from Bihar and Jharkhand. Life and career Saxena made his first-class debut for Delhi vs Southern Punjab as a 16-year-old in the 1960/61 season, hitting an unbeaten 113 in his first first-class innings. He played for Delhi until 1965–66, then moved to Bihar, playing for them from 1966–67 to 1981–82. He also played for North Zone and East Zone in the Duleep Trophy. His highest score was 202 not out for Bihar against Assam in 1969–70. He had the reputation of one of the best players of spin bowling in India. Saxena made his Test debut for India in a match against England in Leeds in 1967. Southern Punjab Cricket Team (India)
The Southern Punjab cricket team was an Indian domestic team representing the southern part of the Indian state of Punjab during the time of the British Raj and later the southern part of its Indian successor, following the partition of India. History The team first played first-class cricket in 1926 against a touring Marylebone Cricket Club team. Southern Punjab was one of the teams that competed in the inaugural season of the Ranji Trophy in 1934-35, and it continued to contest the Ranji Trophy until 1951-52. It returned in 1959-60 and continued until 1967-68, after which it combined with Northern Punjab to form Punjab. Its final first-class match was a draw against Northern Punjab. Southern Punjab’s highest finish in the Ranji Trophy came in 1938-39 when it lost to Bombay in the final.
