''Man About the House'' is a 1974 British comedy film, a spinoff of the sitcom of the same name, starring all of the main cast of the series. It was the last in a series of big screen adaptations of popular television comedies made by Hammer Films,Tom Johnson and Deborah Del Vecchio, Hammer films: An exhaustive filmography, McFarland, 1996. p375. although a film of '' ''George & Mildred'''' (featuring Yootha Joyce and Brian Murphy in the title roles) was made in 1980 by another studio. Roy Skeggs
Roy Skeggs (April 1934 – 29 December 2018) was a British film producer for Hammer Films who is credited along with Brian Lawrence for revitalising the film company following receivership in 1979. Early life Skeggs and Lawrence were former board members of Hammer Films who had resigned to form their own production company, Cinema Arts. When Hammer entered receivership in 1979, Skeggs and Lawrence returned at the request of company management to develop a new direction for the ailing production house. Skeggs relocated Hammer Films to Hampden House in Buckinghamshire, and shifted production away from horror films featuring Dracula and Frankenstein towards anthologies and television serials. Production schedules were shortened and new features were largely shot on location in Buckinghamshire rather than the more expensive studio backlot. Arthur Lowe
Arthur Lowe (22 September 1915 – 15 April 1982) was an English actor. His acting career spanned 36 years, including starring roles in numerous theatre and television productions. He played Captain Mainwaring in the British sitcom ''Dad's Army'' from 1968 until 1977, was nominated for seven BAFTAs and became one of the most recognised faces on UK television. Lowe began acting professionally in England in 1945, after army service in the Second World War. He worked in theatre, film and television throughout the 1950s but it was not until he landed the part of Leonard Swindley in the television soap ''Coronation Street'' in 1960 that he came to national attention. Pauline Peart (born 31 October 1951) is a Jamaican actress and model who rose to prominence from her roles in a large number of films and television series including parts the ''Carry On'' and Hammer Horror film series. Early life Born in Jamaica, Peart won the title of Miss Jamaica before she moved to England in 1966. John Ernest Briggs (5 September 1935 – 28 February 2021) was an English actor. He was known for his role as Mike Baldwin in the soap opera '' Coronation Street'', in which he appeared from 1976 to 2006. Early life Briggs was born in Battersea, south-west London, on 5 September 1935. His father was a master carpenter. He was evacuated from London during the Blitz campaign of World War II. He was awarded a scholarship to train at the Italia Conti Academy stage school when he was 12 years old. There, he learned alongside Millicent Martin, Nanette Newman and Anthony Newley.
