Mammad Araz
Mammad Araz ( az, Məmməd Araz, ) (14 October 1933 in Nursu, Nakhchivan – 1 December 2004 in Baku, Azerbaijan), born Mammad Ibrahimov, was an Azerbaijani poet. His pen name was Araz, the Azerbaijani spelling for the Aras river. Early life In 1954, he graduated degrees in Geography from Azerbaijan's Pedagogical Institute. Araz has also worked on the editorial offices of Maarif Publication House in Baku, Ulduz Magazine (1967–1970), Literature and Art newspaper (1970–1972) and Azerbaijan State Publication House (1972–1974). He has also worked long time as editor of "Nature of Azerbaijan" magazine since 1974. Family * He is the father of publicist Irada Tuncay. * The writer-journalist is the father-in-law of MP Agil Abbas. * The poet is Rehile Elchin's uncle. Nursu
Nursu (also, Nurs and Nur-su) is a village and municipality in the Shahbuz District of Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan. It is located 8 km in the north-east from the district center, on the foothill area. Its population is busy with gardening and animal husbandry. There are secondary school, library, club and a medical center in the village. It has a population of 812. Etymology The name of the village is related with the name of the same named river in its area. Agil Magomed oğlu Abbas ( az, Aqil Məhəmməd oğlu Abbasov) is a deputy of National Assembly of Azerbaijan and a member of Azerbaijan Writers Union since 1986. Biography Abbas was born in Kolalı, Agjabadi on 1 April 1953. In 1955, when he was two years old, he has moved to Aghdam together with his family and lived there. He continued his education on the faculty of philology in Azerbaijan University of Languages after finishing secondary school N1 in Aghdam.(1970–1976.) Nakhichevan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic
The Nakhichevan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, abbreviated as Nakhichevan ASSR was an autonomous republic within the Azerbaijan SSR, itself a republic within the Soviet Union. It was formed on 16 March 1921 and became a part of the Azerbaijan SSR proper on 9 February 1924. The first flag of the Nakhichevan ASSR was introduced in 1937 and contained both Azerbaijani and Armenian text. In the 1940s, when the Azerbaijani Latin alphabet was being replaced by Cyrillic, the previous flag was replaced by a Soviet flag with the Azerbaijani Cyrillic text "Нахчыван МССР" in gold and a dark blue bar along the fess. In December 1918, with the support of Azerbaijan's Musavat Party, Jafargulu Khan Nakhichevanski declared the Republic of Aras in the Nakhichevan uyezd of the former Erivan Governorate assigned to Armenia by Wardrop.
