Mama Kin
"Mama Kin" is a song by American hard rock band Aerosmith, which appears on their 1973 self-titled debut album. The song was written by lead singer Steven Tyler. It was a staple of Aerosmith concerts and appeared on several live albums. Music and lyrics The song comprises a basic guitar riff, with a strong rhythm backbeat which comes in between lyrics in the verse and throughout the bridge. There are also saxophones interspersed throughout the song. Aerosmith biographer Richard Bienstock described "Mama Kin" as an "uptempo barn-burner with a distinct glam flavor." Music historian Andrew Grant Jackson claimed that the "hyped-up pace" of the song reflected Aerosmith's "anxious youth." Jackson described the song as "the first of Tyler's many installments about a poor gypsy's battle to find piece of mind in the face of grueling obstacles like groupies and pot, hoping he won't have to go back on the wagon and work for his dad." "Dream On" is a power ballad by Aerosmith from their 1973 debut album, ''Aerosmith''. Written by lead singer Steven Tyler, this song was their first major hit and became a classic rock radio staple. Released in June 1973, it peaked at number 59 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 but hit big in the band's native Boston, where it was the number one single of the year on WBZ-FM, number five for the year on WRKO and number 16 on WMEX (AM). The song also received immediate heavy airplay on the former WVBF (FM), often showing up in the #1 position on "The Top Five at Five" in June 1973. The album version of "Dream On" (4:28, as opposed to the 3:25 1973 45 rpm edit where most of the intro has been edited out and the first chorus is replaced with the second chorus) was re-issued in late 1975, debuting at number 81 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart on January 10, 1976, breaking into the top 40 on February 14 and peaking at number 6 on April 10. Pandora's Box (album)
''Pandora's Box'' is a compilation album, released on November 19, 1991 by Aerosmith. Issued by Columbia Records to capitalise on the band's newfound success with Geffen, the box set consists of three discs that cover Aerosmith's output from the 1970s and early 1980s. Alongside alternate versions, previously unreleased songs, live renditions and remixes, ''Pandora's Box'' features previously released studio material. The original issue was as a long cardboard-box, containing three CDs (each in its own jewel-case, with inserts) and booklet that detailed the tracks and had comments from the band members. Later issues did away with the outer box, utilising a cardboard slipcase, but reproduced the booklet in 'CD-size'. The cover version of " Helter Skelter" is Aerosmith's third commercially released Beatles cover (after "Come Together" from the ''Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'' soundtrack and "I'm Down" from '' Permanent Vacation''), despite being the first they recorded. ... Aerosmith
Aerosmith is an American rock band formed in Boston in 1970. The group consists of Steven Tyler (lead vocals), Joe Perry (guitar), Tom Hamilton (bass), Joey Kramer (drums) and Brad Whitford (guitar). Their style, which is rooted in blues-based hard rock, has also incorporated elements of pop rock, heavy metal, glam metal, and rhythm and blues, and has inspired many subsequent rock artists.
