Malvern Tram Depot
Malvern tram depot is located in Coldblo Road, Armadale, Victoria, a suburb of Stonnington, Australia. Operated by Yarra Trams, it is one of eight tram depots on the Melbourne tram network. History Malvern tram depot was opened on 30 May 1910 by the Prahran & Malvern Tramways Trust (PMTT). It was included in the sale of the PMTT to the Melbourne & Metropolitan Tramways Board on 1 March 1920. In 1930 a second tramshed was built on the opposite side of Coldblo Road. When the Public Transport Corporation was privatised in August 1999, Malvern depot passed to M>Tram. It passed to Yarra Trams when it took control of the entire tram network in April 2004. In January 2005 Coldblo Road that ran between the two sheds with one track was closed to vehicle traffic and two additional tracks laid. Armadale is an inner suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 7 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Stonnington local government area. Formed in October 1997 as Swanston Trams, a business unit of the Public Transport Corporation, it was privatised in August 1999 becoming a subsidiary of National Express. In December 2002 National Express handed the franchise in, with the State Government taking over until negotiations were concluded for Yarra Trams to take over in April 2004. Melbourne University Tram Stop
The Melbourne University tram stop is a major terminating point and stop of the Melbourne tram system. It features a single island platform and three shunts. It is located on Swanston Street, Carlton, and is the major tram stop for the University of Melbourne, its namesake. It opened in 2005, and is one of the busiest stops on the network; six tram lines terminate at it, while two run through.
