Malta In The Eurovision Song Contest 2010
Malta participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with the song "My Dream" written by Jason Cassar and Sunny Aquilina. The song was performed by Thea Garrett. The Maltese entry for the 2010 contest in Oslo, Norway was selected through the national final The GO Malta Eurosong 2010, organised by the Maltese broadcaster Public Broadcasting Services (PBS). The competition consisted of a semi-final round and a final, held between 9 December 2009 and 20 February 2010, where "My Dream" performed by Thea Garrett eventually emerged as the winning entry after scoring the most points from a five-member jury and a public televote. Malta was drawn to compete in the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 25 May 2010. Performing during the show in position 11, "My Dream" was not announced among the top 10 entries of the first semi-final and therefore did not qualify to compete in the final on 29 May. Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre
The Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre (also known as MFCC) is a multi-purpose venue located in Ta' Qali, Attard, Malta. The centre can be used for concerts, exhibitions, trade fairs, examinations, conferences, galas and weddings. After its expansion in 2018, the venue measures 170m x 50m, totalling 8,500m². The venue can hold up to 14,000 people standing and 10,268 people seated, making it Malta's largest indoor venue. History The venue was established in December 2006 on part of the former Royal Air Force base at Ta Kali which closed in 1968. It has since become the most successful venue in Malta. Lawrence Gray (singer)
Lawrence Gray (born January 30, 1975) is a Maltese singer. Early in his career, the rock band Meer was formed and Gray was the singer and frontman. He recorded six songs with this band at Temple Studios in Malta. Gray participated in Malta Song for Europe seven times, coming twice second, with "The Right Time" in 1999 and with "Why Not" in 2003 (won the televoting). He came third with "Count on Me" in 2001 and he came twice fourth, in 2002 with "What Happened to Our Love" and in 2004 with "You’re on My Mind". Glen Vella (born 14 May 1983) is a Maltese singer. He started his singing career at the age of 13. He studied both practical and theory in voice and piano. He is certificated in voice coaching from the Victoria Music and Arts College London. Eleanor Cassar is a Maltese singer that won the Golden Stag Festival 2004. Born on September 29, 1982, Eleanor Cassar has been singing since she was 11 years old. Gerard James Borg
Gerard James Borg is a Maltese songwriter, author, and concept creator. He is well known for writing multiple songs that competed in the Eurovision Song Contest. Borg has written six of the Maltese entries for the annual Eurovision Song Contest with composer Philip Vella. Their song "7th Wonder" sung by Ira Losco gave Malta 2nd place in the contest. This was the first time Malta reached 2nd place and it is the country's best result in the contest so far, alongside the 2nd place earned by Chiara with the song "Angel" in 2005. Miriam Christine Borg is a Maltese pop and rhythm and blues singer best known for representing Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest 1996. Miriam Christine was born in Santo Antônio do Descoberto, Goiás, Brazil but raised on the Mediterranean island of Gozo.
