Malta Fairs And Conventions Centre
The Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre (also known as MFCC) is a multi-purpose venue located in Ta' Qali, Attard, Malta. The centre can be used for concerts, exhibitions, trade fairs, examinations, conferences, galas and weddings. After its expansion in 2018, the venue measures 170m x 50m, totalling 8,500m². The venue can hold up to 14,000 people standing and 10,268 people seated, making it Malta's largest indoor venue. History The venue was established in December 2006 on part of the former Royal Air Force base at Ta Kali which closed in 1968. It has since become the most successful venue in Malta. Prior to opening in Malta, the venue was used by Wembley Arena as a temporary concert venue whilst the main arena was undergoing refurbishment work during 2005 and 2006. Ta' Qali
Ta' Qali is a wide open space in the limits of Attard and Mosta in central and northern Malta respectively, which contains the national football stadium, the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre, Ta' Qali National Park, a crafts village, and a national vegetable market which is locally known as the ''Pitkalija''. Shortly before World War II, the area was used to build a military aerodrome and a station for the Royal Air Force (RAF), which the British called RAF Ta Kali; Maltese place names were often corrupted in this fashion. RAF Ta Kali was operational throughout the war and continued to be used as an RAF airfield until the mid-1950s. Latterly, RAF squadrons based in the United Kingdom visited Ta Kali as part of their annual proficiency training. Maltese International Trade Fair Grounds
The Trade Fair Grounds, also known as the Trade Fairs and Exhibition Centre, is a former fairground in Naxxar, Malta. It hosted various exhibitions and fairs throughout the year, but was mostly known for being the venue for the annual Malta Trade Fair. Prior to the construction of the trade fair complex, the area had been part of the gardens of Palazzo Parisio. History The fairground hosted forty-nine editions of the Malta Trade Fair, from 1958 to 2006. After the ground rent expired, the Malta Trade Fair was moved to the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre in Ta' Qali in 2007, and has been held there ever since.
