Witold Maliszewski
Witold Maliszewski (russian: Витольд Осипович Малишевский, uk, Вітольд Йосифович Малішевський; 20 July 1873 – 18 July 1939) was a Polish composer, founder of Odessa Conservatory, and a professor of Warsaw Conservatory. Biography Maliszewski was born in Mohyliv-Podilskyi, Russian Empire (now Ukraine). He graduated from Saint Petersburg Conservatory, in the class of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. He was a member of Belyayev circle. In 1913 he became a founder and the first director of the Odessa Conservatory, which gave the world a number of outstanding musicians, such as David Oistrakh, Emil Gilels and Yakov Zak. After the Russian revolution, because of the imminent threat of Bolshevik persecution, Maliszewski immigrated to Poland in 1921. Staś Maliszewski (born Stanislaw MaliszewskiJohn Underwood ''Sports Illustrated'', November 15, 1965. ''pol.'' Stanisław Maliszewski; August 1944 in Poland) is a Polish American former football linebacker. He played college football for Princeton from 1963 through 1965, and was an All-American in 1964 and 1965. He was a Consensus All-American (1965). He was drafted in the sixth round of the 1966 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Colts. Born in August 1944 in German-occupied Poland, Maliszewski and his family (his parents, grandparents, and two brothers) soon became refugees, fleeing ahead of the advancing Soviet army. They wound up in a displaced persons camp in West Germany and in 1951 came to the United States. Natalia Maliszewska (born 16 September 1995) is a Polish short track speed skater. She won silver medal at the 2018 World Short Track Speed Skating Championships and gold medal at the 2019 European Short Track Speed Skating Championships.
