Geoffrey Malins
Arthur "Geoffrey" Herbert Malins (18 November 1886 – 1940) was a British film director most famous for camera and editing work on the 1916 war film '' The Battle of the Somme'', which combined documentary and propaganda, and reached an audience of over 20 million viewers. Biography Malins was born in Hastings, Sussex, the son of a hairdresser. Starting his career as a photographer, he secured a position in 1910 with the Croydon-based Clarendon Film Company. Film career Prior to the outbreak of the First World War, Malins joined the British arm of the Gaumont Film Company. In the autumn of the 1914, the company sent him to Belgium to record footage of the Belgian army in action. 1915 saw the release of a number of song films shot by Malins. These were silent films based on well known tunes such as Abide with Me and On the Banks of Allan Water, designed to be shown with live singers providing a musical accompaniment. Humfrey Malins
Humfrey Jonathon Malins CBE (born 31 July 1945) is a British Conservative Party politician, who was Member of Parliament (MP) for Croydon North West and later Woking. Early life and career Malins was born in Nuneaton, Warwickshire and educated at St John's School, Leatherhead and Brasenose College, Oxford; he gained an MA in Jurisprudence in 1967. He qualified as a solicitor in 1971 and worked in a major Surrey law firm from 1975 to 1988. From 1973 to 1983, Malins was a member of Mole Valley District Council. He contested Liverpool Toxteth in both 1974 general elections and Lewisham East in the 1979 general election. Parliamentary career In the 1983 general election, Malins was elected MP for Croydon North West, defeating Bill Pitt who had been the constituency's MP since the 1981 by-election. Julian Malins, KC (1 May 1950) is a British barrister and a Reform U.K. candidate who served as the Farringdon ward councillor of the City of London and a Governor of the Museum of London. Early life Malins was born in Rinteln, West Germany, where his father served as an army vicar. Brought up in Ghana, Nigeria and Singapore, he was educated at Brasenose College, Oxford. He studied at The College of Law, and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1972 by the Middle Temple and subsequently to the Bars of the Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands and on a case-by-case basis to other Bars. He was pupil to Baron Alexander of Weedon QC. Legal career Malins served as a deputy judge and a recorder from 1990. The retirement age for such posts is 70 years. Richard Malins
Sir Richard Malins (9 March 1805 – 15 January 1882) was an English barrister, judge, and politician. Early life The third son of William Malins of Ailston, Warwickshire, by his wife Mary, eldest daughter of Thomas Hunter of Pershore, Worcestershire, and was born at Evesham on 9 March 1805. He was educated at a private school, and then entered Caius College, Cambridge in 1823, where he graduated B.A. in 1827. He had already joined the Inner Temple in 1825, and was called to the bar 14 May 1830. Malins practised as an equity draughtsman and conveyancer in Fig Tree Court, Temple, and later in New Square and in Stone Buildings, Lincoln's Inn. He made his way professionally without backing, interest, concentrated on real property law and the interpretation of wills, and built up a court practice in equity. Germans Māliņš (born 12 October 1987) is a Latvian professional footballer, currently playing for JDFS Alberts. Club career Skonto Riga Born in Riga, as a youth player Māliņš played for his local club FK Auda, before moving to JFC Skonto in 2001. He spent 5 years in the academy, being taken to the club's first team in 2006 as the third choice keeper. In the beginning of 2007 he was given out on loan to Olimps in order to gain experience. During the loan spell Māliņš made his debut in the Latvian Higher League and became the club's first choice keeper. He returned to Skonto for the 2008 season, serving as the back-up keeper for Pāvels Doroševs. Māliņš started the 2009 season as the first-choice keeper, but after the arrival of Aleksandrs Vlasovs from SK Blāzma was once again put on the bench.
