''Malibran's Song'' (Spanish: ''La canción de La Malibrán'') is a 1951 Spanish historical film, historical musical film directed by Luis Escobar Kirkpatrick, Luis Escobar.de España p.320 It is based on the life of the nineteenth century singer Maria Malibran. Plot When María marries she abandons her singing career. But when his husband is in financial difficulties she will sing again, soon becoming worldwide famous. Luis Escobar Kirkpatrick
Luis Escobar y Kirkpatrick, 7th Marquess of Marismas del Guadalquivir (5 September 1908 – 16 February 1991), was a Spanish nobleman and actor. He was an actor, playwright, and theatre director who advanced the interests of Teatro María Guerrero, Teatro Español, and Teatro Eslava. A flamboyant aristocrat, he was particularly known to have played ''el marqués de Leguineche'' (the Marquess of Leguineche) in Luis García Berlanga's comedy trilogy: La Escopeta Nacional (1978), Patrimonio Nacional (1981) and Nacional III (1982). In 1950, he directed '' La honradez de la cerradura,'' being nominated at the 1951 Cannes Film Festival. Escobar never married and was openly homosexual, especially after Spanish democracy was restored in 1975. His niece, María Victoria Escobar y Cancho, succeeded him in the Marquessate of Marismas del Guadalquivir at his death in 1991. Pilar Muñoz
Pilar Muñoz Ruiz (March 18, 1911 - October 1, 1980) was a Spanish stage and film actress. Daughter of actor Alfonso Muñoz and sister of actress Mimí Muñoz, she began acting with Margarita Xirgu in 1925. In 1927 she appeared in ''La princesa Bebé'' and 1931 in ''Vidas cruzadas'', both with Jacinto Benavente and next to Xirgú and her father. Three years later came one of their biggest hits, ''Ni al amor ni al mar, del mismo autor'', in 1934 at the Festival de Mérida with Medea and Electra. Premiering soon after was ''Yerma'' (1934) - in which she played María. During the Spanish Civil War, Xirgú accompanied her on a tour of the Americas, premiering in Buenos Aires with ''La casa de Bernarda Alba''. She did not return to Spain until 1947. In 1950 she starred in ''En la ardiente oscuridad'', alongside José María Rodero and Adolfo Marsillach, under director Luis Escobar.
