Malaysian Rock
Malaysian underground music and idealism is popular locally and overseas. Malaysian youth are typically into the punk culture (including hardcore and its other subgenre). This reflect in the music that they write (band/musician). Most of the Malaysian rock music scene started in Terengganu which has a thriving punk/hardcore scene. Punk Rock Late 1980s Some early Malaysian punk bands called Mallaria; around year 1986 in the city of Kuala Terengganu on 1987 released a four-song demo mix, of which the genre has been described as crossover thrash. The band never released an album on a major label but their drummer went on to form another side-project band called The Stone Crows, and their guitarist participating (without ever recording anything) in various bands such as PROV, DPSA, and Zink. Bunkface
Bunkface is a Malaysian Rock music, rock band formed in 2006. The band consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Sam (Shamsul Anuar), bass guitarist Youk (Farouk Jaafar), lead guitarist Paan (Ahmad Farhan), and drummer Biak (Alif Sufian). The name Bunkface was suggested by Biak which was influenced from the Sum 41 song titled "Crazy Amanda Bunkface". Popular songs by Bunkface include Silly Lily, Situasi, Revolusi, Prom Queen, Through My Window, Ekstravaganza, Rentak Laguku, Malam Ini Kita Punya, Darah Muda and Masih Di Sini. Pop Shuvit (band)
Pop Shuvit is a Malaysian rap rock band. Comprising Moots! (MC), JD (vocals, guitar), AJ (bass guitar), Rudy (drums) and DJ Uno (vocals, DJ), the band who got its name from a skateboarding trick of almost the same name began making waves in the local music scene in late 2001 and since then, has had 5 successful releases under their belt and gained a sizeable fanbase in Asia notably in Malaysia, Japan, Thailand and Singapore. Estranged is a Malaysian alternative rock band that formed in Damansara, Kuala Lumpur in 2001. Currently comprising vocalist Rich Gimbang, lead guitarist Nor Hanafi and rhythm guitarist Din Hormatov, the band have released three full-length albums: ''In Hating Memory'' (2004), ''Remain Unknown'' (2008), ''Anugerah Hidup'' (2013) and an extended play (EP): ''Sepenuhnya Vol. 1'' (2016). OAG (band)
OAG, also spelled O@G, also known as Old Automatic Garbage or Orang Asia Genius (Genius Asians), is a Malaysian pop and alternative rock band. The band, formed in 1992, was one of the first English language alternative rock bands in Malaysia to get huge attention from mainstream music listeners. The current line-up of the band are Muhammad Radhi Razali (vocals) after Qi Razali (drums) left the group in early 202following by Nazrin Zabidi (bass guitar) and Ammal (lead guitar). The band is well known for breaking the mainstream mold of Malay rock and pop at that time, pushing the alternative genre and underground spirit into commercial media such as radio and television.
