The making of local Tamil-language films its motherland of Tamil Nadu is actively growing in Malaysia. With the Tamil diaspora worldwide, there are many enthusiastic filmmakers who want to make their mark. Malaysia's first Tamil film is known to be ''Ratha Paei'', starring Kalaikkumar Chinnasamy, Susheela Devi, Sivaji Raja, M. Baharudeen, Mukesh, Vijaya Gowri and Malaysia Vasudevan. It was shot in Golden Studio, Chennai and directed by Mooban. Music and background score of the film was composed by G. K. Venkatesh. Shooting of the film began in 1968 and it was released on 14 January 1969. Centered in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor Bahru, the industry remained relatively small with fewer films produced. Coliseum Theatre (Kuala Lumpur)
The Coliseum Theatre is a cinema in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. One of the oldest cinemas in the country, it was built in 1920 by the Chua family led by Chua Cheng Bok. History The Art Deco-style building is capable of seating 900 people and also features a balcony. The famed Coliseum Café and Hotel—a favourite haunt of William Somerset Maugham during his stay in British Malaya—are located behind the theatre, just down the road. The café closed in 2021 after 100 years in business, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The oldest and continuously running cinema hall in the country (save for a break during the Japanese occupation during World War II), most of the movies premiering in the building are Indian movies. Abhirami Venkatachalam () (9 March 1991) is an Indian actress who works prominently in Tamil film industry. She appeared in the first season of the spin-off version of '' Bigg Boss Tamil'' called ''Bigg Boss Ultimate (season 1)'' and emerged as the 5th runner up. The cast includes Loga Varman, Thia Lakshana, Jaykishen, Vicknes Rao, Velarasan, Evarani, and KS Maniam. The music was composed by Shameshan Mani Maaran.
