Malaysia Swimming Federation
Malaysia Swimming Federation ( ms, Persekutuan Renang Malaysia) is the national sport governing body, governing body of swimming (sport), swimming, water polo, synchronised swimming, Diving (sport), diving and open water swimming, open water in Malaysia. Founded as the Amateur Swimming Union of Malaysia (ASUM) ( ms, Persatuan Renang Amatur Malaysia), the body adopted its current name in July 2020. It is charged with selecting Malaysia Olympic Swimming team and any other teams which officially represent Malaysia, as well as the overall organization and operation of the sport within the country. The national headquarters is located at the National Aquatic Centre, National Sports Complex, Malaysia, National Sports Complex in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur. Championships Amateur Swimming Union of Malaysia organises championships every year in each of the sporting disciplines. National Sports Complex, Malaysia
The KL Sports City (formerly known as ''Bukit Jalil National Sports Complex''; Kompleks Sukan Negara in Malay) in Malaysia is the largest sports complex in the country. It is located in Bukit Jalil, 20 km south of Kuala Lumpur. Described as the "sports complex in a park", it was the only one of its kind in the country or region when it was fully developed. It was officially inaugurated by the then-Prime Minister of Malaysia Mahathir Mohamad on 11 July 1998 ahead of the 1998 Commonwealth Games in which it staged the Games' opening ceremony. Open Water Swimming
Open water swimming is a swimming discipline which takes place in outdoor bodies of water such as open oceans, lakes, and rivers. The beginning of the modern age of open water human swimming, swimming is sometimes taken to be May 3, 1810, when Lord Byron swam several miles to cross the Dardanelles, Hellespont (now known as the Dardanelles) from Europe to Asia. In the first edition of the modern Olympic Games in Athens in 1896, the swimming competition was held in open water. Synchronised Swimming
Synchronized swimming (in British English, synchronised swimming) or artistic swimming is a sport where swimmers perform a synchronized choreographed routine, accompanied by music. The sport is governed internationally by FINA (the ''Fédération internationale de natation'' or International Swimming Federation). It is traditionally a women's sport, although FINA introduced a new mixed gender duet competition that included one male swimmer in each duet at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships and LEN introduced men's individual events at the 2022 European Aquatics Championships. Bukit Jalil
Bukit Jalil is an affluent suburb in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is bounded by the National Sports Complex on the east, the Shah Alam Expressway on the north, city boundaries to the west, and the Puchong–Sungai Besi Highway as well as city boundaries to the south. Water Polo
Water polo is a competitive team sport played in water between two teams of seven players each. The game consists of four quarters in which the teams attempt to score goals by throwing the ball into the opposing team's goal. The team with the most goals at the end of the game wins the match. Each team is made up of six field players and one goalkeeper. Excluding the goalkeeper, players participate in both offensive and defensive roles. It is typically played in an all-deep pool where players cannot touch the bottom. Swimming is an individual or team racing sport that requires the use of one's entire body to move through water. The sport takes place in pools or open water (e.g., in a sea or lake). Competitive swimming is one of the most popular Olympic sports, with varied distance events in butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and individual medley. In addition to these individual events, four swimmers can take part in either a freestyle or medley relay.
