Russian Superleague
The Russian Superleague (russian: Чемпионат России Суперлига, ''Russian Championship Superleague''), commonly abbreviated as RSL, was the highest division of the main professional ice hockey league in Russia. It was considered the second best league in the world, after the National Hockey League (NHL) of North America. It was a part of the Russian Pro Hockey League which was composed of three divisions — the Superleague, Major League (''Vysshaya Liga''), and First League (''Pervaya Liga''). The league was rebranded after the 2007/2008 season as the KHL. The KHL absorbed all 20 teams from the previous RSL season, for a total of 24 for its inaugural campaign. Rich Parent (born March 29, 1973) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender who played 32 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the St. Louis Blues, Tampa Bay Lightning and Pittsburgh Penguins between 1997 and 2001. Playing career Born in Montreal, Quebec, Parent began his junior career in the Western Hockey League (WHL) as the goalie of the Spokane Chiefs. After one year with the Chiefs, Parent turned professional when he joined the Muskegon Fury of the Colonial Hockey League (CoHL). During the 1995–96 season, Parent was a CoHL first team All-Star, named the CoHL Most Outstanding Goalie, and also played 19 games with the Detroit Vipers of the International Hockey League (1945–2001), International Hockey League and 2 games with the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League. United Hockey League
The United Hockey League (UHL), originally known as the Colonial Hockey League from 1991 to 1997 and last known as the International Hockey League from 2007 to 2010, was a low-level minor professional ice hockey league, with teams in the United States and Canada. The league was headquartered in Rochester, Michigan, and, in its last year, consisted of seven teams. It folded in 2010, with most of its teams joining the Central Hockey League.
