Makoto Watanabe (diplomat)
was a Japanese diplomat. Biography Watanabe was born in Tokyo, as a son of Akira Watanabe (Scouting), Akira Watanabe. He attended Hibiya High School and graduated from the University of Tokyo. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Japan), Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1959. He was Ambassador of Japan to Jordan from 1988 to 1990. He was Grand Chamberlain of Japan from 1996 to 2007 and director-general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan from 1993 to 1995. He was an adviser to the Imperial Household Agency from 2012 on. He was strongly opposed to the publication of the book Princess Masako: Prisoner of the Chrysanthemum Throne in 2007 and said the Imperial Household Agency could not accept it. 2001 Japan Airlines Mid-air Incident
On January 31, 2001, Japan Airlines Flight 907, a Boeing 747-400 en route from Haneda Airport, Japan, to Naha Airport, Okinawa, narrowly avoided a mid-air collision with Japan Airlines Flight 958, a McDonnell Douglas DC-10-40 en route from Gimhae International Airport, South Korea, to Narita International Airport, Japan. Makoto Sei Watanabe (born 1952) is a Japanese architect living in Tokyo. He designed such buildings as Japan's K Museum, has lectured at universities around Japan, and won many awards for his designs. He is the author of ''The Induction Cities'', published in 2002. History Makoto Sei Watanabe was born in Yokohama, Japan. He studied architecture at the Yokohama National University and graduated in 1976. He worked under Arata Isozaki in Tokyo until starting his own firm, the Makoto Sei Watanabe Architectural Office, in 1984.
