''Making News'' is a television drama set in the world of journalism produced by Thames Television for the ITV network. A pilot episode, entitled 'Making News', was screened on 9 May 1989 as part of Thames' anthology series ''Storyboard''. The pilot was developed into a series of six episodes transmitted the following year. Thames Television
Thames Television, commonly simplified to just Thames, was a Broadcast license, franchise holder for a region of the British ITV (TV network), ITV television network serving Greater London, London and surrounding areas from 30 July 1968 until the night of 31 December 1992. Thames Television broadcast from 9:25 Monday morning to 5:15 Friday afternoon (7:00 Friday night until 1982) at which time it would hand over to London Weekend Television (LWT). Formed as a joint company, it merged the television interests of British Electric Traction (trading as Associated-Rediffusion) owning 49%, and Associated British Picture Corporation—soon taken over by EMI—owning 51%. Charlotte Isabel Attenborough (born 29 June 1959) is a British stage, film and television actress known for her appearances in ''Jane Eyre'' (1996) and ''Jeeves and Wooster'' (1991, 93). She is the daughter of Richard Attenborough and Sheila Sim. Biography Family Attenborough was born in 1959, the daughter of actor, filmmaker, entrepreneur, and politician Richard Attenborough, Baron Attenborough and the film and theatre actress Sheila Sim. She has one brother, director Michael Attenborough. Brian Finch
Brian Finch (25 July 1936 – 27 June 2007) was a British television scriptwriter and dramatist. His longest relationship was with the ITV1 soap opera, ''Coronation Street'', for which he wrote 150 scripts between 1970 and 1989. He also helped the development of '' All Creatures Great and Small'', ''The Tomorrow People'', and '' Heartbeat''. Herbert Wise (31 August 1924 – 5 August 2015) was an Austrian-born film and television producer and director. He was born as Herbert Weisz in Vienna, Austria, and began his career as a director at Shrewsbury Repertory Company in 1950. He was at Hull New Theatre, Hull Rep and then as Director of Productions at Dundee Repertory Theatre, Dundee Rep (1952–55). Michael Aitkens
Michael Aitkens (born 1947) is a British actor and writer of drama scripts for movies, television and stage. His BBC situation comedy '' Waiting for God'', first shown in 1990, was BAFTA nominated. Michael Aitkens was educated at Haileybury in England. He then lived in Australia for ten years and Los Angeles, United States, for two years, graduating from the AFI Conservatory (Los Angeles) in 1981. In the mid-1980s, Aitkens featured in the Australian children's television series ''The Henderson Kids'' as Walter Mullens, the long lost father of Tam and Steve Henderson.
