Making Music (National Federation Of Music Societies)
Making Music (formerly the National Federation of Music Societies) is a UK membership organisation for leisure-time music groups of all musical genres, representing over 200,000 musicians and promoters of all levels and experience. Making Music provides them with practical services, guidance, artistic development opportunities and a collective voice for advocacy. Mission Making Music aims at supporting , standing for and celebrating groups of people who make and presente music in their leisure time across the UK. Musicians Benevolent Fund
Help Musicians (formerly Musicians Benevolent Fund), is a United Kingdom charity offering help for musicians throughout their careers. History It was created by Victor Beigel in 1921 as the Gervase Elwes Memorial Fund, following the death of English tenor Gervase Elwes. It was renamed as the Musicians Benevolent Fund in 1926 and became a registered charity. Until his death in 1934, Edward Elgar was the fund's president. During World War II the fund was supported by proceeds from daily concerts in the National Gallery, London, organized by Myra Hess. Help Musicians UK launched Music Minds Matter in 2017, after work led by George Musgrave. This was the first 24/7 mental health helpline for musicians. Superact is a not for profit arts organization based in Taunton, Somerset. Formed in 2006, Superact runs a number of community orientated projects focused on art, music and innovation. Superact is responsible for the running of the nationwide project the Bandstand Marathon, which was the main closing event of the London 2012 Festival. Superact is also involved in the running of a number of arts-based projects in the U.K and across Europe, including the NetBox project, PEETA and the IC Music Project. British Association Of Barbershop Singers
The British Association of Barbershop Singers (BABS) is a British organisation of male barbershop singers. It was formed in 1974 and is affiliated with the Barbershop Harmony Society. Every year the association runs two contests in parallel for barbershop choruses and quartets as part of the BABS Annual Convention. The British convention is the largest barbershop convention of its kind outside of North America. The chorus competition is currently held over one day, while the quartet competition is spread over the convention weekend (with a preliminary round to eliminate all but the top 16 quartets usually held about 6 months prior to the semi-finals). Sing Up
Sing Up is a music education organisation in England that provides schools and teachers with online resources for singing and music-making activities. Its headquarters are located in Gateshead. History In 2007, the then Department for Education and Skills announced a £10 million investment in a national singing programme in response to the recommendations of the Music Manifesto. In 2008, the funding was extended to £40 million over four years. In March 2011, the Government announced a further £4 million funding to Sing Up for the next financial year. St Martin-in-the-Fields is a Church of England parish church at the north-east corner of Trafalgar Square in the City of Westminster, London. It is dedicated to Saint Martin of Tours. There has been a church on the site since at least the medieval period.
