Joyce Maker
Joyce A. Maker is an American politician from Maine. A Republican, Maker has served in local government, including the Calais Town Council and School Board as well as in the Maine House of Representatives (District 31) from 2010 until 2016. A retired college administrator, Maker worked for Washington County Community College. She attended both the University of Maine at Machias and Washington County Community College. She also served on the board and as chair of the Finance Authority of Maine. In June 2016, Maker won the primary for her party's nomination in Senate District 6, which includes all of Washington County and some of Hancock County. Michael Jon Maker (born November 9, 1965) is the former head coach of Marist College men's basketball. Biography Coaching career After a playing career at California Baptist University, Maker joined the staff of his alma mater as an assistant and junior varsity head coach, a position he held for two seasons. In 1990, he spent one season as the head women's basketball coach at Hartnell College before moving on to Dartmouth, where he served as an assistant from 1991 to 2002. Maker also had stops at Samford, West Virginia, and Creighton as an assistant before landing the men's head coaching job at Division III Williams College. In his six seasons at Williams, Maker guided the Ephs to a 147–32 record (.821 winning percentage), and three Final Four appearances, including the title game in 2010 and 2014. Thon Marial Maker (born 25 February 1997) is a South Sudanese-Australian professional basketball player for the Fujian Sturgeons of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). He attended high school at Orangeville District Secondary School and played basketball for Canada's Athlete Institute. He was picked 10th overall in the 2016 NBA draft, and played for three different NBA teams between 2016 and 2021. Early life Maker was born in Wau, a city located in what is now South Sudan. His uncle, a local administrator, arranged for Maker, his younger brother, Matur, and his aunt to escape the civil war to Uganda. Matur Marial Maker (born 1 January 1998) is a South Sudanese-born Australian basketball player who last played for the Canterbury Rams of the New Zealand National Basketball League (New Zealand), National Basketball League (NZNBL). He moved to Australia in his childhood and played for various prep schools in Canada and the United States, before forgoing college basketball. He is the younger brother of National Basketball Association, NBA player Thon Maker and the cousin of basketball player Makur Maker.
