Maurice Kamto
Maurice Kamto (born 15 February 1954 in Bafoussam) is a Cameroonian politician, professor and barrister. He is one of the founders of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (MRC). He was a member of the International Law Commission of the United Nations from 1999 to 2016. He was one of the two main agents, the other one being Professor Peter Ntamark in the Cameroonian delegation that successfully led the negotiations to resolve the matter of Bakassi, a peninsula disputed with neighboring Nigeria. His decisive contribution helped him to be appointed as Minister-Delegate to the Minister of Justice in 2004. He resigned from the government in November 2011. After resigning from the government, Kamto formed a new opposition party, the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (MRC). A kick-off meeting of his party merging multiple parties was prohibited by the government on 13 August 2012. Joseph Ngute
Joseph Dion Ngute (born 12 March 1954) is a Cameroonian politician currently serving as the 9th Prime Minister of Cameroon, following his appointment in January 2019. He succeeded Philémon Yang, who had held the post since 2009. Career Ngute was born in southwest Cameroon, in Bongong Barombi. From 1966 to 1971, he studied at the Lycée Bilingue de Buéa, where he obtained the A-Level from the General Certificate of Education Advanced Level. From 1973 to 1977, he attended graduate school at the University of Yaoundé and obtained a law degree. Then, from 1977 to 1978, he enrolled at Queen Mary University in London, where he obtained a master's degree in law. Under the current Constitution of Cameroon, the Prime Minister of Cameroon is a relatively powerless position. While the Prime Minister is officially appointed to be the head of government, the President retains most of the executive power and can fire the Prime Minister at will.
