Major League Baseball On Regional Sports Networks
Major League Baseball games not broadcast exclusively by its media partners are televised by regional sports networks, which present sports programming of interest to their respective region. Most MLB broadcasters are members of chains such as NBC Sports Regional Networks, Bally Sports, and AT&T SportsNet, although several teams are broadcast by regional networks that are independent of these chains. Some teams own partial or majority stakes in their regional broadcaster. Regionally broadcast MLB games are subject to blackouts; games from outside of a viewer's designated market are blacked out to protect the local team. In addition, certain national regular season telecasts on ESPN, FS1, and TBS are non-exclusive, and may also air in tandem with telecasts of the game by local broadcasters. Major League Baseball (MLB) is a professional baseball organization and the oldest major professional sports league in the world. MLB is composed of 30 total teams, divided equally between the National League (NL) and the American League (AL), with 29 in the United States and 1 in Canada. The NL and AL were formed in 1876 and 1901, respectively. Sportsnet is a Canadian English-language sports specialty channel owned by Rogers Sports & Media. It was established in 1998 as CTV Sportsnet, a joint venture between CTV, Liberty Media, and Rogers Media. Sean McDonough (born May 13, 1962) is an American sportscaster, currently employed by ESPN and WEEI Red Sox Radio Network. Early life The son of ''Boston Globe'' sportswriter Will McDonough, McDonough graduated from the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications of Syracuse University in 1984 with a degree in broadcast journalism. Dick Radatz
Richard Raymond Radatz (April 2, 1937 – March 16, 2005) was an American relief pitcher in Major League Baseball. Nicknamed "The Monster", the , right-hander had a scorching but short-lived period of dominance for the Boston Red Sox in the early 1960s. He got his nickname by striking out several New York Yankees in a row at a game in Fenway Park in 1963. Early years Born in Detroit, Radatz attended Berkley High School. William Charles Monbouquette (August 11, 1936 – January 25, 2015) was an American professional baseball player and coach. Americo Peter "Rico" Petrocelli (born June 27, 1943) is an American former baseball shortstop and third baseman who played his entire Major League Baseball (MLB) career with the Boston Red Sox. Kent Derdivanis is an American sportscaster. Derdivanis's career began as a play-by-play announcer for University of Arizona Wildcats football and basketball games. In 1981, Derdivanis was the voice of the Milwaukee Brewers on WVTV. In 1984 he was NESN's first play-by-play announcer for Boston Red Sox games. During his time in Boston he used the name Kent Der Divanis at the insistence of NESN president and general manager Peter Affee. After NESN's inaugural season, the network was able to convince WSBK-TV's broadcast team of Ned Martin and Bob Montgomery to call NESN's games as well, which led to the dismissal of Derdivanis and color commentator Mike Andrews. After being unable to find work in Boston, Derdivanis worked at KMPC, calling UCLA football and basketball.
