Major C. Mead
Major C. Mead (1858–1925) was a member of the Wisconsin State Senate. Biography Mead was born on June 26, 1858, in Lyndon, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, as the son of Abel Mead and Permelia Peck . His father died when he was 1 year old, and in 1863 his mother remarried his father's younger brother Clark R. Mead. On June 29, 1881, Mead married Rose Robinson (1859–1951). They moved to Plymouth, Wisconsin, and had three children. Mead died on February 19, 1925, and is interred at the Union Cemetery in Plymouth. Career Mead was elected to the Senate in 1888 and remained a member until 1892. Wisconsin State Senate
The Wisconsin Senate is the upper house of the Wisconsin State Legislature. Together with the larger Wisconsin State Assembly they constitute the legislative branch of the state of Wisconsin. The powers of the Wisconsin Senate are modeled after those of the U.S. Senate. The Wisconsin Constitution ties the size of the State Senate to that of the Assembly, by limiting its size to no less than 1/4, nor more than 1/3, of the size of the Assembly. Currently, Wisconsin is divided into 33 Senate Districts (1/3 of the current Assembly membership of 99) apportioned throughout the state based on population as determined by the decennial census, for a total of 33 senators. Lyndon is a town in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. The population was 1,468 at the time of the 2000 census. It is included in the Sheboygan, Wisconsin Metropolitan Statistical Area. The ghost town of Winooski was located in the town. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 34.4 square miles (89.0 km2), of which, 34.2 square miles (88.5 km2) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.5 km2) of it (0.58%) is water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 1,468 people, 546 households, and 437 families residing in the town. The population density was 43.0 people per square mile (16.6/km2). There were 630 housing units at an average density of 18.4 per square mile (7.1/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 98.09% White, 0.20% African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.14% Asian, 0.48% from other races, and 0.95% from two or more races. Plymouth, Wisconsin
Plymouth is a city in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, along the Mullet River. It is included in the Sheboygan, Wisconsin Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city is located in the Town of Plymouth, but is politically independent. Plymouth is known as "Hub City" for its former role as a center of wooden wheelwrighting. The population was 8,932 at the 2020 census. Mayor Don Pohlman was last re-elected in April 2018. History Plymouth was surveyed in 1835 by United States engineers, one of whom was named Mullet, and the Mullet river was subsequently named after him. The first land sold to a private party was sold to an Englishman named John Law who had emigrated from London. It was sold to Law on August 13, 1836. The Democratic Party of Wisconsin is the affiliate of the Democratic Party in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. It is currently headed by chair Ben Wikler. Important issues for the state party include support for workers and unions, strong public education, and environmental protection. Since the 2010 passage of the Affordable Care Act, Wisconsin Democrats have prioritized fully expanding Medicaid in the state, a policy that Republicans have blocked.
