Bruce Lynch
Bruce Lynch (born 1 June 1948, in New Zealand) is an electric and acoustic bassist, producer and arranger. Music career Arriving in the UK in the mid-1970s, Lynch became a commercially successful session musician, touring extensively with Cat Stevens, including Stevens's 1976 Earth Tour as a sideman that was recorded as the album/DVD, '' Majikat'', released in 2004; he appeared on six of Steven's albums. His wife Suzanne Lynch sang backing vocals for much of this time. He also recorded on two albums for Richard Thompson, and an album with Rick Wakeman as well as on Chris Rea's 1980 album ''Tennis'' and on Kate Bush's debut album. While in the UK, he was also an early member of British jazz fusion band Morrissey–Mullen, together with fellow New Zealand session musician Frank Gibson, Jr. on drums. Moonshadow (song)
"Moonshadow" is a song written and performed by Cat Stevens (known since 1978 as Yusuf Islam), first released as a single in the UK in 1970 on the Island label and in the US in 1971 on the A&M label. It also appears on Stevens' 1971 album ''Teaser and the Firecat''. History Stevens considers this his favourite of his old songs. When Yusuf appeared on ''The Chris Isaak Hour'' in 2009, he said of this song: "I was on a holiday in Spain. I was a kid from the West End f London– bright lights, et cetera. I never got to see the moon on its own in the dark, there were always streetlamps. Suzanne Lynch
Suzanne Joy Lynch (née Donaldson, born 20 March 1951) is a New Zealand singer who has worked professionally under the names Suzanne Donaldson, Suzanne Lynch and Suzanne. Career Lynch first came to wide public knowledge in the 1960s as half of the duo The Chicks with her sister, Judy Hindman, on the NZBC television series ''C'MON''. In 1969, she became a solo performer and was a resident performer on the follow-up show ''Happen Inn''. In 1970 she was voted ''NZ Entertainer of the Year'' and won a Loxene Golden Disc in 1972. Alun Davies (born 21 July 1942) is a Welsh guitarist, studio musician, recording artist, and composer who rose to fame primarily with his supporting guitar work and backing vocals as accompanist for English musician Cat Stevens, from early 1970 to 1977. Prior to his association with Stevens, Davies co-wrote, sang, and played on two albums: in 1963, with Jon Mark, (known then as John Michael Burchell) and in 1968, as a member of the band Sweet Thursday with Mark, keyboardist Nicky Hopkins, Harvey Burns and Brian Odgers, when folk-rock music was still in its infancy. When their label declared bankruptcy, Davies was invited to join Cat Stevens as a session musician, who was attempting to change his sound and advance in the music world. Gerry Conway (musician)
Gerald Conway (born 11 September 1947) is an English folk and rock drummer/percussionist, best known for having performed with the backing band for Cat Stevens in the 1970s, Jethro Tull during the 1980s, and a member of Fairport Convention from 1998 to 2022, alongside various side projects. Conway has done a considerable amount of work as a session musician. Conway is married to vocalist Jacqui McShee, who is the singer of Pentangle, a band Conway is also a member of. History Conway was born in King's Lynn, Norfolk. ''Back to Earth'' is the eleventh studio album released by the British singer/songwriter Cat Stevens. It is the only album he recorded using the name Cat Stevens after his conversion to Islam until the release in September 2017 of ''The Laughing Apple'', his fifteenth studio album (credited to "Yusuf / Cat Stevens"). It was also the last album of contemporary Western music that he recorded until '' An Other Cup'', 28 years later. ''An Other Cup'' is the twelfth studio album by Yusuf (formerly known as Cat Stevens), released on 10 November 2006 in Germany, 13 November in the UK and the US and worldwide on 14 November. It is Yusuf's first Western pop album since '' Back to Earth'', which was released in 1978 under the name Cat Stevens. Mark Warner is a songwriter, studio musician and music producer from California. Warner has received acknowledgement from the music industry for his songwriting contributions. Bouzouki
The bouzouki (, also ; el, μπουζούκι ; alt. pl. ''bouzoukia'', from Greek ), also spelled buzuki or buzuci, is a musical instrument popular in Greece. It is a member of the long-necked lute family, with a round body with a flat top and a long neck with a fretted fingerboard. It has steel strings and is played with a plectrum producing a sharp metallic sound, reminiscent of a mandolin but pitched lower. There are two main types of bouzouki: the ''trichordo'' (''three-course'') has three pairs of strings (known as courses) and the ''tetrachordo'' (''four-course'') has four pairs of strings. Clavinet
The Clavinet is an electrically amplified clavichord invented by Ernst Zacharias and manufactured by the Hohner company of Trossingen, West Germany, from 1964 to 1982. The instrument produces sounds by a rubber pad striking a point on a tensioned string, and was designed to resemble the Renaissance-era clavichord. Although originally intended for home use, the Clavinet became popular on stage, and could be used to create electric guitar sounds on a keyboard. It is strongly associated with Stevie Wonder, who used the instrument extensively, particularly on his 1972 hit "Superstition", and was regularly featured in rock, funk and reggae music throughout the 1960s and 1970s.
