Maisha Film Lab
Maisha Film Lab is a Uganda-based non-profit training film initiative for emerging East African filmmakers and mentor ship programme for aspiring filmmakers and youth in Eastern Africa. It encompasses film production, screenwriting, directing, producing, cinematography, editing, sound recording, and acting. Origins Maisha was established in 2005 by film director Mira Nair. The name Maisha is from a Swahili word that means "life". Maisha aims to seek, identify, nurture, and promote creative talent among children and youth through hands-on skills development programmes in areas such as journalism, film-making, arts appreciation, and organisation and presentation of cultural and creative events. East Africa

Mira Nair (born 15 October 1957) is an Indian-American filmmaker based in New York City. Her production company, Mirabai Films, specializes in films for international audiences on Indian society, whether in the economic, social or cultural spheres. Among her best known films are '' Mississippi Masala'', '' The Namesake'', the Golden Lion–winning '' Monsoon Wedding'', and '' Salaam Bombay!'', which received nominations for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and the BAFTA Award for Best Film Not in the English Language. Swahili Language
Swahili, also known by its local name , is the native language of the Swahili people, who are found primarily in Tanzania, Kenya and Mozambique (along the East African coast and adjacent litoral islands). It is a Bantu language, though Swahili has borrowed a number of words from foreign languages, particularly Arabic, but also words from Portuguese, English and German. Around forty percent of Swahili vocabulary consists of Arabic loanwords, including the name of the language ( , a plural adjectival form of an Arabic word meaning 'of the coast'). Ashiq Khan (ASHIQ KHAN]; born 7 June 1993) Early life Ashiq Khan was born on 7 June in Doha, Qatar. His father is from Peshawar, Pakistan, but moved to Doha in 1970. According to Khan, his father served in the Pakistan Army, and then served in the Qatar Army in the early 1970s. Ethnically, Khan describes himself as Pathan (Pashtun). He grew up in Doha and Islamabad where he attended the Pakistan Education Centre in the former, and both the City School and the Asas International School in the latter. Rehema Nanfuka (born 25 May 1986) is a Ugandan film, theatre and television actress, director, and filmmaker known for her roles in Imani, Veronica's Wish, Imbabazi, The Girl in the Yellow Jumper, Queen of Katwe, Imperial Blue among other films.
