Maiola Kalili
Maiola Kalili (November 3, 1909Some sources give his birth date as February 19. – August 23, 1972) was an American competition swimmer who represented the United States at the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California. Kailili received a silver medal as a member of the second-place U.S. team in the men's 4×200-meter freestyle relay, together with teammates Frank Booth, George Fissler and Manuella Kalili, who was also his younger brother. Freestyle Swimming
Freestyle is a category of swimming competition, defined by the rules of the International Swimming Federation (FINA), in which competitors are subject to a few limited restrictions on their swimming stroke. Freestyle races are the most common of all swimming competitions, with distances beginning with 50 meters (50 yards) and reaching 1500 meters (1650 yards), also known as the mile. The term 'freestyle stroke' is sometimes used as a synonym for 'front crawl', as front crawl is the fastest surface swimming stroke. It is now the most common stroke used in freestyle competitions. The first Olympics held open water swimming events, but after a few Olympics, closed water swimming was introduced. The front crawl or freestyle was the first event that was introduced. Manuella or Manuela Kalili (2 November 1912 – 14 September 1969) was a Native Hawaiian competition swimmer who represented the United States at the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California. As a member of the second-place U.S. team in the men's 4×200-meter freestyle relay event, he won a silver medal with fellow Americans Frank Booth, George Fissler and Maiola Kalili, who was also his older brother.
