State Route 41 (abbreviated SR 41) is part of Maine's system of numbered highways, located in the central part of the state. It runs for from an intersection with U.S. Route 202 (US 202), SR 11, SR 100 and SR 133 in Winthrop north to an intersection with US 2 and SR 27 in Farmington. Route description SR 41 begins in Winthrop along with SR 133 at an interchange with US 202 and SR 11/SR 100. The two routes run concurrent for before they split apart not far north from Winthrop. SR 41 runs west of Maranacook Lake until it joins with SR 17 in Readfield. later, SR 41 splits north also in Readfield. Winthrop, Maine
Winthrop is a town in Kennebec County, Maine, United States. The population was 6,121 at the 2020 census. Winthrop's population, however, approximately doubles during the summer months as part-year residents return to seasonal camps located on the shores of Winthrop's Lakes and Ponds. A recreational area located among lakes, the town includes the villages of Winthrop and East Winthrop, and is the center of the Winthrop Lakes Region. When two roadways share the same right-of-way, it is sometimes called a common section or commons. State Route 156 (SR 156) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maine. It is located entirely in Franklin County and runs between Weld and the Chesterville village of Farmington Falls. Route description SR 156 begins in the town of Weld at an intersection with SR 142. It heads southeast past a few houses and the Weld Town Hall in an otherwise rural area of Weld. It enters the unincorporated South Franklin heading through a mostly wooded area continuing south west. After entering Wilton the number of houses lining the road begins to slowly increase especially as it reaches the settlement of Wilton Intervale. Farmington is a town in and the county seat of Franklin County, Maine, United States. As of the 2020 census, its population was 7,592. Farmington is home to the University of Maine at Farmington, Nordica Memorial Auditorium, the Nordica Homestead, and the annual Farmington Fair. History The area was once territory of the Canibas tribe of Abenaki Indians. They had two camps located near Farmington Falls, with fields cleared for cultivation of maize and potatoes.
