The Main Street Historic District comprises the commercial and governmental core of Tuskegee, Alabama. The historic district includes more than one hundred contributing structures along a ten-block by three-block stretch of North and South Main Street. Description The district is roughly centered on the Macon County Courthouse (Alabama), Macon County Courthouse and Tuskegee Square. The square was the location of the first three county courthouses. The current courthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places on its own, and as a contributing feature to the historic district. It is sited on the northeast side of the square. The Main Street Historic District of Fryeburg, Maine, encompasses the growth of the town's principal village between about 1800 and 1935. It extends along Main Street (marked United States Route 302 for part of its length and Maine State Route 5 for all of it), from Woodland Street in the north to Portland Street (SR 5 and Maine State Route 113) in the south, and includes forty primary buildings on . Main Street Historic District (Milan, Michigan)
The Main Street Historic District is a commercial historic district that includes structures located at 3-153 East Main Street, 1-41 West Main Street, and 8 Park Lane in Milan, Michigan. Although within Milan, the district spans the county line between Washtenaw County, Michigan and Monroe County, Michigan, containing structures within both counties. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. History Milan was first settled in 1830, located at a point on the Saline River and on the Monroe-Saline plank road. A toll booth was placed on the plank road, collecting tolls that were used for road maintenance. As commerce flowed along the plank road, Milan quickly grew. A post office was established in 1833, a saw mill and flour mill (later incorporated into Henry Ford's village industries)) a few years later, and the first school opened in 1837. The First Street Historic District, also known as the Main Street Historic District, is a commercial historic district in Menominee, Michigan containing over 40 structures spread over a area. The district is roughly bounded by Fourth Avenue, the north side of Tenth Avenue, Second Street, and the Green Bay Shoreline; the boundaries are approximately equivalent to what is locally known as the Historic Waterfront Downtown.
