Maik Zirbes
Maik Zirbes (born 29 January 1990) is a German professional basketball player for Benfica of the Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol. He also represents the senior German national basketball team in the international competitions. Standing at , he plays the center position. Early career Zirbes first played soccer, but opted to focus on basketball when he was 12 years old. He started his basketball career in the youth set up of TBB Trier before signing his first professional contract with TBB at the age of 17. In the 2008–09 campaign, Zirbes was named Most Valuable Player of the German youth league NBBL. Professional career Zirbes played with TBB Trier until signing a three-year contract with Brose Baskets in June 2012. On 5 August 2014, Zirbes signed a two-year deal with the Serbian team Crvena zvezda. The Germany men's national basketball team (german: Deutsche Basketballnationalmannschaft or ''Die Mannschaft'') represents Germany in international basketball competition. The team is directed by the German Basketball Federation (''Deutscher Basketball Bund''), the governing body for basketball in Germany. Currently, Germany is ranked 8th in the FIBA World Rankings. The ABA League Supercup, also credited as ABA Super Cup, is an annual men's professional basketball supercup competition between teams from the ABA League. It is run by the ABA League JTD. It is a regional competition, that is contested between teams from six countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia. The 2018 BBL-Pokal was the 51st season of the German Basketball Cup, the domestic cup competition of the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL). On 6 June 2017, it was announced that the Top Four would be held at the Arena Ulm/Neu-Ulm in Ulm, which gained ratiopharm Ulm automatic qualification. Basketball Bundesliga-Pokal, commonly known as the BBL-Pokal, is the annual national basketball cup competition in Germany. Since 2009, the title has been awarded to the winner of a tournament competition between top clubs of each Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) season. History and format The competition was founded in 1966, by the German Basketball Federation. The first final of the German Basketball Cup took place on 11 June 1967, in Oberhausen. The Radivoj Korać Cup ( sr, Куп Радивоја Кораћа / Kup Radivoja Koraća) is the men's national basketball cup of Serbia. It is run by the Basketball Federation of Serbia and is named after a Serbian basketball legend and FIBA Hall of Fame and Basketball Hall of Fame member Radivoj Korać.
