Maidashi
is a district of Higashi-ku, Fukuoka, in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. It is divided into six ''chōme'', numbered 1 to 6, with a total population of 8,813 and 5,341 households (as of 31 August 2011). The postal code for addresses in Maidashi is 812–0054. The "Maidashi" school district includes parts of the Higashi Hama district. Geography It is located to the west of Hakozaki Shrine. Etymology means ''horse'' and means ''offer'' in Japanese. It is said that the name of ''Maidashi'' derives from a historical event at which the town people provided horses for participants at a festival in ''Hakozaki-gu''. Maidashi-Kyūdai-byōin-mae Station
is a subway station on the Fukuoka City Subway Hakozaki Line in Fukuoka, Japan. The station's name, which is the longest for a Japan subway station, means "Front of Kyushu University Hospital in Maidashi". Chiyo-Kenchōguchi Station is, however, closer to the hospital. Maidashi-kyūdai byōin mae is the station closest to the Prefectural Government office. The symbol on the sign is a dove, representing peace and nursing (a reference to the nearby hospital). Higashi-ku, Fukuoka
is one of the seven Wards of Japan, wards of Fukuoka in Japan. As of 1 March 2012, it has a population of 296,576, with 136,133 households and an area of 66.68 km2. Its name literally means "east ward". Kashii, Japan, Kashii is in this ward. It is south of neighbouring Shingū, Fukuoka. The Shika Island is connected to Umi no Nakamichi by a bridge. Hakozaki Line
The is a subway line, which forms part of the Fukuoka City Subway system in the city of Fukuoka, Japan. It connects Nakasu-Kawabata in Hakata Ward with Kaizuka in Higashi Ward, all within Fukuoka. The line's color on maps is blue. Officially, the line is called . Like other Fukuoka City Subway lines, stations are equipped with automatic platform gates, and trains are automatically operated by ATO system. Service outline The line has a through service with the Fukuoka City Subway Kūkō Line. Half of its trains go through the Kūkō Line, while the remainder terminate within the Hakozaki Line. It faces the Tsushima Strait, and features beaches and a port, though parts of the bay have been reclaimed in the expansion of the city of Fukuoka. The bay is perhaps most famous for the Mongol invasions of Japan of 1274 and 1281 which took place nearby; both invasions are sometimes referred to as the "Battle of Hakata Bay."
