Mai Yamaguchi
Mai Yamaguchi (山口 舞 ''Yamaguchi Mai'', born July 3, 1983) is a former Japanese volleyball player who played for Okayama Seagulls. She was part of Japan's 2012 bronze medal-winning team. Mai participated in the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship, which was her last international tournament with the national team. She announced retiredment from volleyball player in 2019. Profile Her nickname is "''Yume''", which means "dream" in Japanese. Another nickname is Pearl, which is locally farmed specialty of her hometown of Shima, in Mie prefecture. She liked knitting and cooking at the time of her bronze medal and she also enjoyed figure skating. Shima, Mie
is a city in Mie Prefecture, Japan. , the city had an estimated population of 47,272 in 22,599 households and a population density of 270 persons per km2. The total area of the city is . Shima hosted the 2016 G7 Summit. Geography Shima is located on the southern half of Shima Peninsula in far eastern Mie Prefecture, facing Ise Bay of the Pacific Ocean. The city has a complicated rias coast with two large inlets: Matoya Bay and Ago Bay. Matoya Bay is famous for oyster cultivation and Ago Bay is famous for pearl cultivation. Pearl
A pearl is a hard, glistening object produced within the soft tissue (specifically the mantle) of a living shelled mollusk or another animal, such as fossil conulariids. Just like the shell of a mollusk, a pearl is composed of calcium carbonate (mainly aragonite or a mixture of aragonite and calcite) in minute crystalline form, which has deposited in concentric layers. The 2014 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix was the 22nd edition of the annual women's international volleyball tournament played by 28 countries from 25 July to 24 August 2014. The skating and ice hockey stage takes place in January, the skiing stage takes place in February, and the main Autumn tournament takes place in September and October.
