Mahonia Tinctoria
''Berberis chochoco'' is an evergreen shrub or small tree up to tall, in the genus ''Berberis'', family Berberidaceae. It is native to mountainous regions of northeastern Mexico, in the states of Nuevo León, Veracruz, and San Luis Potosí. The evergreen leaflets are oval to oblong, long, shiny with conspicuous venation. Fruits are blue. Wood is yellow and used for dyeing and tanning. Diederich Franz Leonhard von Schlechtendal (27 November 1794, Xanten – 12 October 1866, Halle) was a German botanist. He studied in Berlin, in 1819 becoming curator of the Royal Herbarium. He was a professor of botany and director of the Botanical Gardens at the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg from 1833 until his death in 1866. The genus '' Schlechtendalia'' (Asteraceae), from Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina, was named in his honor. He was editor of the botanical journal ''Linnaea'' (from 1826), and with Hugo von Mohl (1805-1872), was publisher of the ''Botanischen Zeitung'' (from 1843). Friedrich Karl Georg Fedde
Friedrich Karl Georg Fedde (30 June 1873, Breslau (now Wrocław) – 14 March 1942, Berlin-Dahlem) was a German botanist. Biography Fedde studied natural sciences, commencing in 1892 and graduating in 1896 in Breslau. He was a teacher in schools of higher learning in Breslau, Tarnowitz and Berlin. He became an associate at the Berlin Botanical Museum in 1901 and a professor there in 1912. He participated in several collecting trips to the Mediterranean, Finland and South Russia. Fedde's main work dealt with plant systematics and biogeography. The Berberidaceae are a family of 18 genera of flowering plants commonly called the barberry family. This family is in the order Ranunculales.
