Mahatma Gandhi Road Metro Station (Bangalore)
Mahatma Gandhi Road, commonly referred to by the abbreviation MG Road, is a station on the Purple Line of the Namma Metro in Bangalore, India. It was constructed by Punj Lloyd and opened to the public on 20 October 2011. The station MG Road has a bicycle stand next to the Urban Square, from where commuters can rent cycles. This metro station will serve as Namma Metro's 2nd interchange station after Majestic metro station for the upcoming Pink Line. History Boulevard The old MG Road boulevard was demolished to build Namma Metro. The reconstruction work was contracted to Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation and Karnataka Land Army Corporation. The deadline for completion was fixed as March 2012. However, the work was delayed when the ground was found to be unstable and had to be reinforced. Namma Metro
Namma Metro ("Our Metro" in Kannada), also known as Bengaluru Metro, is a rapid transit system serving the city of Bengaluru, India. Upon its inauguration, it became the first underground metro system in South India. Namma Metro has a mix of underground, at grade, and elevated stations. Out of the operational 52 metro stations of Namma Metro as of November 2022, there are 43 elevated stations, 8 underground stations and 1 at-grade station. The system runs on standard-gauge tracks. The Purple Line is a part of the Namma Metro metro rail system for the city of Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. As of 2021, the line is 25.7 km and spans 23 stations from Kengeri in the southwest to Baiyappanahalli to the east. The Purple Line is mostly elevated, with 17 elevated stations, 5 underground stations and 1 at-grade station. The Line passes through many prime activity centers of the city including MG Road, Vidhana Soudha and Majestic station, which is an interchange station between Purple and Green Lines. Trinity Metro Station
Trinity is a station in the Purple Line of the Namma Metro in Bangalore, India. It was opened to the public on 20 October 2011. The station was constructed by Punj Lloyd. History On 9 July 2014, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) issued a tender for co-branding the station with a large corporation. The winning company will be given signage and a kiosk in the station, and their name will become part of the station name, and announced when the stop is called on board the trains. Cubbon Park Metro Station
Cubbon Park is an underground metro station on the East-West corridor of the Purple Line of Namma Metro in Bangalore, India. It was opened to the public on 30 April 2016. The station is located a few metres away from one of the entrances to Cubbon Park. History The Cubbon Park metro station, like all other underground stations on the Purple Line, was built using the cut-and-cover method. There was a proposal to build a 35 km line known as Bangalore High-Speed Rail Link, from Cubbon Road to the Bengaluru International Airport in Devanahalli, according to BMRCL sources.
