Mahammedpur
Mohammadpur ( bn, মুহাম্মদপুর) is a village in Dolarbazar Union of Chhatak Upazila at the North-Eastern part of Bangladesh. Mahammadpur is famous for the '' mazar'' (grave) of Rahimullah Shah, a Saint of Islam. Safath Shah, the father of Durbin Shah (poet and singer) also lived in this village. At the middle part of his life Safath Shah migrated from Mahammadpur to Durbin Tila in Chhatak. Location Mohammadpur is situated in the south-eastern part of Chhatak Upazila, in Sunamganj District. It is south of Dular Bazar and west of Singerkach Bazar. The Makunda River flows at the south-east side of Mahammadpur. Chhatak Upazila
Chhatak ( bn, ছাতক) is an upazila of the Sunamganj District in Sylhet Division, Bangladesh. It is named after its headquarters, the town of Chhatak. Etymology According to the majority of researchers including Dewan Mohammad Azraf, the area got its name from ''chhātā'', the Bengali word for umbrella. It is said that upon the founding of a haat bazaar in such a rain-prone area, shopkeepers and shoppers would arrive with umbrellas and use umbrellas to prevent rain from falling on their fruits and crops. The area would be filled with umbrellas which later caused the market to be known as ''Chhātār Bazār'' (Umbrella's Market). Over time, it became corrupted into ''Chhātak Bazār''. On the other hand, Monir Uddin Chowdhury asserted that ''Chhātak'' was actually corrupted from ''Chhatrāk'', the word for an umbrella holder. Durbin Shah
Durbin Shah ( bn, দুর্বিন শাহ) is a Bangladeshi mystic lyric poet and one of the most knowledgeable commentators on Bengali folk literature, Baulsadhak. Biography He was born on 2 November 1920 (15 Kartika 1327) at Taramani Tila in Nowarai village in Chatak, north of the Surma river. In Kalanta, this Taramani Tila is known as Durveen Tila. Safat Ali Shah, his father, was a Sufi saint, and Hasina Banu, his mother, was a Pirani. As a result, he was raised in a musical family. His father died when he was only seven years old. In 1946, he married Surfa Begum. Music life Sufism and mysticism are prominent in most of his songs, but he also wrote numerous songs in a variety of moods. Sunamganj
Sunamganj ( bn, সুনামগঞ্জ) is a town in the Sylhet Division of northeastern Bangladesh. It is the administrative headquarters and largest town of Sunamganj District. It is located on the banks of the Surma River, approximately west-northwest of Sylhet, the divisional headquarters. Municipality The municipality was formed in 1960. 2011 Bangladesh Census
In 2011, the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, conducted a national census in Bangladesh, which provided a provisional estimate of the total population of the country as 142,319,000. The previous decennial census was the 2001 census. Data were recorded from all of the districts and upazilas and main cities in Bangladesh including statistical data on population size, households, sex and age distribution, marital status, economically active population, literacy and educational attainment, religion, number of children etc. Bangladesh and India also conducted their first joint census of areas along their border in 2011. According to the census, Hindus constituted 8.5 per cent of the population as of 2011, down from 9.6 per cent in the 2001 census. Bangladesh have a population of 144,043,697 as per 2011 census report.
