The Magnolia Hotel Houston is a hotel located at 1100 Texas Avenue, in downtown Houston, Texas. It was the tallest building in Houston from 1926 to 1927. Emporis GmbH was a real estate data mining company that was headquartered in Hamburg, Germany. The company collected data and photographs of buildings worldwide, which were published in an online database from 2000 to September 2022. On 12 September 2022, the managing director of CoStar Europe posted a letter on Emporis.com, informing its community members of the decision which had been made to retire the Emporis community platform, effective 13 September 2022. The ''Houston Post'' was a newspaper that had its headquarters in Houston, Texas, United States. In 1995, the newspaper shut down, and its assets were purchased by the ''Houston Chronicle''. History Gail Borden Johnson founded the ''Houston Post'' on February 19, 1880. He expanded the paper by acquiring the Houston ''Telegraph'', the legacy of the ''Telegraph and Texas Register'', which operated the first press in Texas after the Texas Revolution. By 1884, however, the paper was financially distressed, when William R. Baker led a group of investors to bailout the publication. Despite their efforts, the original publication ceased in October 1884. Houston Post-Dispatch Building
The Magnolia Hotel, formerly the Houston Post-Dispatch Building, located at 609 Fannin in Houston, Texas, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 14, 2002. History The 22-story skyscraper was built by oil magnate Ross S. Sterling for his newspaper the Houston Post, at the corner of Texas and Fannin streets in 1926. At the time, it was one of the city's tallest skyscrapers. The newspaper's printing presses were visible through the windows, and the broadcast antenna for radio station KPR was located on the building's roof. During the 1960s and 1970s, many details of the facade were removed. The building was restored to its previous appearance on the outside, with a modern interior, by Denver-based architect Guy Thornton. It opened in 2003 as the Magnolia Hotel.
