Magikal Journey
''Magikal Journey - The Hits Collection 1998-2008'' is a compilation album by Dutch electronic dance music producer and DJ Tiësto. The double album was released on 17 May 2010 by Magik Muzik, nine months after Tiësto announced that he had parted ways with Black Hole Recordings, a trance record label he set up with Arny Bink in 1997. Disc one features tracks from Tiësto's three studio albums ''In My Memory'', ''Just Be'' and '' Elements of Life'', as well as the two previously unreleased tracks "Magikal Circus" and "Goldrush" (A track that appeared on the PSP game Wipeout Pure). Tijs Michiel Verwest (; born 17 January 1969), known professionally as Tiësto ( ), is a Dutch DJ and music producer from Breda. He was voted "the Greatest DJ of All Time" by '' Mix'' magazine in a 2010/2011 poll amongst fans. In 2013, he was voted by ''DJ Mag'' readers as the "best DJ of the last 20 years". He is also regarded as the "Godfather of EDM" by many sources. In 1997, he founded the label Black Hole Recordings with Arny Bink, where he released the '' Magik'' and '' In Search of Sunrise'' CD series. Tiësto met producer Dennis Waakop Reijers in 1998; the two have worked together extensively since then. From 1998 to 2000, Tiësto collaborated with Ferry Corsten under the name Gouryella. Elements Of Life
''Elements of Life'' is the third studio album by Dutch DJ Tiësto. It was released on 6 April 2007 (see 2007 in music). The album contains collaborations with Jes of Motorcycle, Julie Thompson of Holden & Thompson, Charlotte Martin, Christian Burns, BT and Maxi Jazz of Faithless. BT collaborates with Tiësto for the first time since "Love Comes Again" and Faithless's rapper Maxi Jazz is featuring on "Dance4Life". The album has more tracks featuring vocals than previous albums (excluding the remixed ''Just Be''). The album was nominated in the category "Best Electronic/Dance Album" at the 50th Grammy Awards. Just Be
''Just Be'' is the second studio album by Dutch DJ Tiësto. It was released on 6 April 2004 in the Netherlands and 15 May 2004 in the United States (see 2004 in music). The album features BT, Kirsty Hawkshaw, and Aqualung on vocals, as well as a remake of Samuel Barber's "Adagio for Strings". The album's singles were "Love Comes Again", "Traffic", "Just Be" (the title track), and "Adagio for Strings". The track "Sweet Misery" was originally written for Evanescence but it did not meet the deadline for the release of their album. Style The album begins with "Forever Today" which is composed of soft classical sounds of strings before moving into a strong trance beat and bassline later in the 12-minute track. ''In My Memory'' is the debut studio album by Dutch DJ Tiësto. It was released on 15 April 2001 (see 2001 in music). This album featured the vocals of Jan Johnston, Nicola Hitchcock, and Kirsty Hawkshaw. Junkie XL produced "Obsession" on this album. This album produced four major hits that launched Tiësto's career: "Flight 643", " Obsession", "Lethal Industry" and "Suburban Train". A remix album was released later on and it charted #12 in the US Hot Dance Club Play. Trance is a genre of electronic dance music that emerged from the British new-age music scene and the early 1990s German techno and hardcore scenes. Black Hole Recordings is a Dutch record label founded by Tijs Verwest (Tiësto) and Arny Bink in 1997. In August 2009, Tiësto decided to leave Black Hole Recordings, setting up the record label Musical Freedom in association with PIAS Entertainment Group. History Background In late 1994, Tiësto signed with Basic Beat, where he met Arny Bink. Tiësto released records on the sub-label Trashcan, founded by Arny, and later created the Guardian Angel sub-label with Arny in which they introduced the ''Forbidden Paradise'' series. A disc jockey, more commonly abbreviated as DJ, is a person who plays recorded music for an audience.
