Magelungen
Magelungen () is one of the biggest lakes in Stockholm, Sweden, located between the municipalities of Stockholm and Huddinge. It is considered as of great recreational value and is popular for bathing, yachting, and fishing in summers, and tour skating in winters. The lake borders two nature reserves: Fagersjöskogen/ Farstanäset and Rågsved Open-Air Area. Catchment area Less than half of the catchment area is composed of forest and open grasslands. Some 10 per cent is wetlands and parks, and the remaining area is covered by one-family houses and blocks of flats. Two bridges cross the lake; several major roads pass through the catchment area, as do the above ground tracks of the metro and suburban railway. South of the lake is a larger continuous forest, a golf course, and an open-air centre. Besides the nature reserve, areas on the northern side are used for riding and Allotment-gardens.Vattenprogram, p 9.3-9.4 The primary catchment area is relatively small and compos ...

Kräppladiket
Kräppladiket is one of the four inflow rivers of Lake Magelungen in southern Stockholm, Sweden. It empties into the lake in its northern end together with Magelungsdiket and NorrÃ¥n while DjupÃ¥n joins the lake on its southern end. In contrast to Magelungsdiket, Kräppladiket was not considerably affected by the construction of the south-western suburbs in the early 1950s, but important part of the ditch was however guided through culverts limiting the open stream to the 1,4 km passing through the RÃ¥gsved Open-air Area south of RÃ¥gsved. A bit less than 50 per cent of the catchment area is occupied by one-family houses and green spaces. The upper reach of the ditch is thus affected by relatively low levels of phosphorus and nitrogen, while samples by the lower reach, next to the Snösätra industrial area, showed a presence of high levels of metals. The mouth of Kräppladiket is located in a Reed bed and no defined outflow exists.Vattenprogram, p 9.4 In 2006 works w ...

Magelungsdiket
Magelungsdiket ( sv, Magelungen Ditch) is one of three inflows of Lake Magelungen in southern Stockholm, Sweden. It empties into the lake from north together with Kräppladiket while DjupÃ¥n reaches the southern end of the lake. Magelungsdiket had a drainage area of 17 km² stretching north to Mälarhöjden until the south-western suburbs of Stockholm were built in the early 1950s and water was guided to Lake Mälaren through stormwater pipes. Today only 1,5 km² remains of the drainage area and most of the contributions comes from one-family houses in eastern RÃ¥gsved and green areas around Magelungen. Water flow is slow, often stagnant, and the ditch is surrounded by dense vegetation. It opened out in a wetland drained in 1994 in order to create canals and minor islands attracting birds. Very high levels of metals have been reported from a street inlet near the outlet.Vattenprogram, p 9.3 Together with Kräpplingadiket, it is estimated to contribute some 100  ...

Forsån
Forsån (Swedish: "Rapids' Stream") is a stream in southern Stockholm, Sweden. It is also known as Stortorpsån and Forsen. Leaving lake Magelungen calmly by a small sandy beach, Forsån's upper reach passes through a furrow blown in the 1860s to lower the level of the lake resulting in the present wide torrents passing through the bedrock. In contrast, the last 500 metres of the course are characterized by flat shores and stagnant, overgrown waters. The stream has a vigorous population of signal crayfish and is the only winter habitat in Stockholm for white-throated dipper.Forsån Catchment area Approximately half of the catchment area is occupied by contaminated ground and polluting operations in the Larsboda industrial area; with the remaining area composed of parks and green spaces. One of the minor allotment-garden's is located in an area which is crossed by two major traffic routes and a railway.Vattenprogram, p 30.2 Environmental influence The inflow from Magelunge ...

Ågestasjön
Ågestasjön (Swedish for "Lake of Ågesta") is a small lake in Huddinge Municipality south of Stockholm, Sweden. Ågestasjön forms part of the Tyresån Lake System and, with a biodiversity unique in the Stockholm region, is highly popular among birdwatchers and ornithologists. The lake also forms part of the Orlången Nature Reserve and one of the green wedges stretching into central Stockholm. The lakes receives water from Lake Trehörningen and in its northern end empties into Magelungen. For a brief history of the area see Trehörningen. Catchment area The lake and the wetlands around it was transformed into a bird protection area in 1976, which means the area is inaccessible to the public from April 15 to July 15 and hunting, hunting equipment, and dogs are prohibited all seasons. Most of the area within a radius of 300 metres from the lake is subject to special restrictions. Except for birdwatchers, the lake and its surrounding also attracts open-air lovers who ...
