Magdeburg (region)
Magdeburg was one of the three Regierungsbezirke of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, located in the north of the country. History The region was formed in 1815 as a subdivision of the Kingdom of Prussia's Province of Saxony, becoming part of Saxony-Anhalt after World War II. The Regierungsbezirk was disbanded on January 1, 2004. Its functions were taken over by the ''Landesverwaltungsamt'', which has three offices at the former seats of the ''Bezirksregierungen''. Quedlinburg (district)
Quedlinburg was a district (''Kreis'') in the west of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Neighboring districts are (from west clockwise) Wernigerode, Halberstadt, Bördekreis, Aschersleben-Staßfurt, Mansfelder Land, Sangerhausen and the district Nordhausen in Thuringia. The Bezirk Magdeburg was a district (''Bezirk'') of East Germany. The administrative seat and the main town was Magdeburg. Schönebeck was a district (''Kreis'') in the middle of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Neighboring districts are (from north clockwise) the district-free city Magdeburg, the districts Jerichower Land, Anhalt-Zerbst, Köthen, Bernburg, Aschersleben-Staßfurt and Bördekreis.
