Pinturicchio, or Pintoricchio (, ; born Bernardino di Betto; 1454–1513), also known as Benetto di Biagio or Sordicchio, was an Italian painter during the Renaissance. He acquired his nickname (meaning "little painter") because of his small stature and he used it to sign some of his artworks that were created during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries."PINTURICCHIO." ''Benezit Dictionary of Artists''. ''Oxford Art Online''. Oxford University Press. Web. 14 February 2017. . The works of the Perugian Renaissance school are very similar and often paintings by Perugino, Pinturicchio, Lo Spagna, and a young Raphael may be mistaken, one for the other. Madonna Of Peace (Pinturicchio)
''Madonna of Peace'' is an oil on panel painting by Pinturicchio, now in the Pinacoteca Civica Padre Pietro Tacchi Venturi in San Severino Marche. It is one of the few authentically autographed works from the artist's early mature period. Cristina Acidini, 'Pintoricchio', in ''Pittori del Rinascimento'', Scala, Firenze 2004. Paintings Of The Madonna And Child By Pinturicchio
Painting is the practice of applying paint, pigment, color or other medium to a solid surface (called the "matrix" or "support"). The medium is commonly applied to the base with a brush, but other implements, such as knives, sponges, and airbrushes, can be used. The support for paintings includes such surfaces as walls, paper, canvas, wood, glass, lacquer, pottery, leaf, copper and concrete, and the painting may incorporate multiple other materials, including sand, clay, paper, plaster, gold leaf, and even whole objects. Painting is an important form in the visual arts, bringing in elements such as drawing, composition, gesture (as in gestural painting), narration (as in narrative art), and abstraction (as in abstract art). Paintings can be naturalistic and representational (as in still life and landscape painting), photographic, abstract, narrative, sy ...
