''Madness for Love'' ( es, Locura de amor, links=no) is a 1948 Spanish historical drama film directed by Juan de Orduña.Mira p.211 The movie is based on the play '' The Madness of Love'' written in 1855 by Manuel Tamayo y Baus around the figure of Queen Joanna of Castile; who attracted authors, composers, and artists of the romanticist movement, due to her characteristics of unrequited love, obsessive jealousy, and undying fidelity. The film is also known as ''The Mad Queen''. It was made by CIFESA, Spain's largest film company at the time, which turned out a number of historical films during the late 1940s. It was given an American release in 1950. In 2001, Vicente Aranda made a remake titled ''Juana la Loca''. ''The Madness of Love'' ( es, La locura de amor, links=no) is a 1855 historical drama play written by Manuel Tamayo y Baus. Tracking the plight of Queen Joanna of Castile, the play consists of 5 acts set in 1506 in Crown of Castile, Castile; specifically in Tudela de Duero (Act 1), in an inn near Tudela (Act 2) and in the Palace of the Constables of Castile in Burgos (last three acts). The play premiered at the Teatro del Príncipe on 12 January 1855. It proved to be a commercial and international success. Don Juan Manuel (5 May 128213 June 1348) was a Spanish medieval writer, nephew of Alfonso X of Castile, son of Manuel of Castile and Beatrice of Savoy. He inherited from his father the great Lordship of Villena, receiving the titles of Lord, Duke and lastly Prince of Villena. He married three times, choosing his wives for political and economic convenience, and worked to match his children with partners associated with royalty. Juan Manuel became one of the richest and most powerful men of his time, coining his own currency as the kings did. Doña Juana ( es, Volcán Doña Juana) is a stratovolcano, located within the Doña Juana-Cascabel Volcanic Complex National Natural Park ( es, Parque Nacional Natural Complejo Volcánico Doña Juana-Cascabel) in Nariño, Colombia. Vicente Aranda Ezquerra (; 9 November 1926 – 26 May 2015) was a Spanish film director, screenwriter and Film producer, producer.
