Madlib Medicine Show
''Madlib Medicine Show '' was a 13-album series by Madlib originally scheduled to be released monthly on his own imprint, Madlib Invazion throughout 2010 and into 2011. Odd months present releases featuring Madlib's production work while even months showcase DJ work and mixing skills. It was originally planned to be only 12 albums and mixtapes, however a secret ''Medicine Show'' titled ''Medicine Show #13: Black Tape'' was released in March 2012, to complete the ''Madlib Medicine Show'' series. #1: Before the Verdict ''Madlib Medicine Show #1'' contains original tracks as well as "OJ Simpson remixes" of tracks from Guilty Simpson's debut album '' Ode to the Ghetto''. It is considered a prelude to Madlib and Guilty's collaboration album O.J. Simpson released in May 2010. Otis Jackson Jr. (born October 24, 1973), known professionally as Madlib, is an American DJ, music producer, multi-instrumentalist, and rapper. He is widely known for his collaborations with MF DOOM (as Madvillain), J Dilla (as Jaylib), and Freddie Gibbs (as MadGibbs). Jaylib
''Champion Sound'' is the only studio album by the duo Jaylib ( hip hop musicians J Dilla and Madlib). Half of the songs are produced by Madlib and feature J Dilla on vocals, and the other half are produced by J Dilla and feature Madlib on vocals. History Jaylib began in 2000 when DJ J Rocc of the Beat Junkies gave a CD of unused instrumental tracks by J Dilla to Madlib. Madlib recorded vocals over these beats and labelled them "Jaylib", without the intention of actually releasing them. Stones Throw Records placed one of these recordings as the B-side to a promo 12" Madlib single, under the name Jaylib, which was eventually heard by Dilla. Jazz Fusion
Jazz fusion (also known as fusion and progressive jazz) is a music genre that developed in the late 1960s when musicians combined jazz harmony and jazz improvisation, improvisation with rock music, funk, and rhythm and blues. Electric guitars, amplifiers, and keyboards that were popular in rock and roll started to be used by jazz musicians, particularly those who had grown up listening to rock and roll. Jazz fusion arrangements vary in complexity. Some employ groove-based vamps fixed to a single key or a single chord with a simple, repeated melody. Beat Konducta is an 8-album series released by hip hop musician Madlib. "Beat Konducta" is also an alias which Madlib uses. The series began officially in 2006 with the release of ''Beat Konducta Vol 1-2: Movie Scenes''. The album was stylistically a companion to (James Yancey) J Dilla's ''Donuts'', which was released the month before, 3 days prior to Yancey's death.
