Madhya Pradesh High Court
The Madhya Pradesh High Court is the High Court of the state of Madhya Pradesh which is located in Jabalpur. It was established as the Nagpur High Court on 2 January 1936 by Letters Patent dated 2 January 1936, issued under Section 108 the '' Government of India Act, 1935''. This Letters Patent continued in force even after the adoption of the constitution of India on 26 January 1950 by virtue of Articles 225 & 372 thereof. The court has a sanctioned judge strength of 53. History The present state of Madhya Pradesh, was originally created as Central Provinces in the 19th century, as Judicial Commission's territory and was administered by the Judicial Commissioner. The Judicial Commissioner's court at Nagpur was, at that time, the highest Court of the territory. It was converted into a Governor's province in 1921, when it became entitled to a full-fledged High Court for administration of Justice. Sharad Arvind Bobde
Sharad Arvind Bobde (born 24 April 1956) is an Indian judge who served as the 47th Chief Justice of India from 18 November 2019 to 23 April 2021. He is a former Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. He is also serving as the Chancellor of Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai and Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur. He had a tenure of eight years in the Supreme Court of India and retired on 23 April 2021. On 24 April 2021, N. V. Ramana succeeded him as the CJI. Syed Rafat Alam (born: 8 August 1950) is an Indian Judge and former Chief Justice of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh and former Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court. Kumar Rajarathnam
Kumar Rajarathnam (13 March 1942 – 27 September 2015) was an Indian Barrister and former Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. He was the first barrister to be appointed a judge, after the Independence of India. Career Rajarathnam studied at Loyola College, Chennai and was called to the Bar from Gray's lnn. He was enrolled as an advocate on 10 March 1971 and started his lawyer career in the Madras High Court. On 1 January 1994 he was appointed the Judge of Madras High Court. Bhawani Singh (Judge)
Brigadier Maharaja Sawai Bhawani Singh MVC (22 October 1931 – 17 April 2011) was an officer in the Indian Army and an entrepreneur. Singh served in the Indian army from 1951 to 1975. In the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, he was decorated with the Maha Vir Chakra, the country's second-highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy. He later served as an advisor to the Indian forces in Sri Lanka. After retirement, he served as India's High Commissioner to Brunei. Narayan Dutta Ojha
Narayan Dutta Ojha (born 19 January 1926, date of death unknown) was an Indian judge and politician. He served as the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court in January 1987. He was the acting Governor of Madhya Pradesh in December 1987. He was earlier the Acting Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court from August to September 1986.
