Made In Heaven (1952 Film)
''Made in Heaven'' is a 1952 British Technicolor comedy film directed by John Paddy Carstairs which stars David Tomlinson, Petula Clark and Sonja Ziemann. The screenplay was based on a story by William Douglas-Home. It was shot at Pinewood Studios outside London. The film's sets were designed by the art director Maurice Carter. Plot summary Young married couple Basil (David Tomlinson) and Julie Topham (Petula Clark) enter the ancient annual Dunmow Flitch Trials (in which a married couple can win a side of bacon if at the end of one year, they have 'not wisht themselves unmarried again'). However, the Topham's happy household, and then an entire village is thrown into chaos with the arrival of an attractive Hungarian housemaid (Sonja Ziemann). John Paddy Carstairs
John Paddy Carstairs (born John Keys; 11 May 1910, in London – 12 December 1970, in London) was a British film director (1933–62) and television director (1962–64), usually of light-hearted subject matter. He was also a comic novelist and Painting, painter. Biography The son of actor Nelson Keys, Carstairs changed his name in order to avoid the appearance of nepotism. He directed 37 films in total. He had a long association with the character of Simon Templar (the character's creator, Leslie Charteris, dedicated the 1963 book, ''The Saint in the Sun'' to Carstairs). Aside from directing the 1939 ''Saint'' film, ''The Saint in London'', he also directed two episodes of ''The Saint (TV series), The Saint'' in the 1960s, making him the only individual (other than Charteris himself) to be connected to both the Hollywood film and British series of ''The Saint''. Great Dunmow
Great Dunmow is a historic market town and civil parish in the Uttlesford district of Essex, England. It is situated on the north of the A120 road, approximately midway between Bishop's Stortford and Braintree, five miles east of London Stansted Airport. Originally the site of a Roman settlement on Stane Street, the town thrived during the Middle Ages. Many buildings survive from this period, including a 16th-century town hall. Harry Stuart Latham (11 July 1912 – 31 August 1993) was an English theatre and film actor, director and television producer. Biography Latham was born in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey on 11 July 1912. John Warren (actor)
John Warren (1916–1977) was the stage and pen name of a British screenwriter and support actor. Specialising in comedy writing, he worked with several figures at the forefront of British comedy, such as Tommy Cooper, Peter Sellers, Dick Emery and Mike and Bernie Winters. He had several screenwriting projects with film director Val Guest whom he first encountered as an actor in 1948. Life He was born John (Jack) Warner in England on 13 November 1916. In the Second World War he served in the Royal Navy. Following discharge he pursued a career in films but only served in minor roles.
