Madara Peak
Madara Peak ( bg, връх Мадара, vrah Madara, ) is a 430 m peak in Vidin Heights on Varna Peninsula, Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. Surmounting Panega Glacier to the south. Steep and partly ice-free southern slopes. The peak is named after the historic site of Madara in northeastern Bulgaria. Location The peak is located at , which is 1.26 km northeast of Samuel Peak, 1.25 km north-northwest of Sakar Peak, 1.3 km northeast of Samuel Peak, 2.6 km east of Miziya Peak, 1.4 km south-southwest of Rakovski Nunatak, 2.5 km southwest of Sharp Peak and 4.97 km west by north of Edinburgh Hill (Bulgarian topographic survey Tangra 2004/05, and mapping in 2005 and 2009). Sakar Peak
Sakar Peak ( bg, връх Сакар, vrah Sakar, ) is a peak of elevation 355 m in Vidin Heights on Varna Peninsula, Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. Partly ice-free southeast slopes. Surmounting Panega Glacier to the north and east, and the lower course of Kaliakra Glacier to the south. The peak is named after Sakar Mountain in southeastern Bulgaria. Edinburgh Hill
Edinburgh Hill is a narrow point projecting 650 m from the east coast of Varna Peninsula, Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica into McFarlane Strait and ending up in a conspicuous rocky hill of elevation 180 m. The point forms the northwest side of the entrance to Moon Bay. The area was visited by early 19th century sealers. The feature is named after the city of Edinburgh, Scotland. Sharp Peak, Livingston Island
Sharp Peak is a sharp rocky peak rising to 500 m in the northeast of Vidin Heights on Varna Peninsula, Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. The peak is surmounting Rose Valley Glacier to the northwest and Debelt Glacier to the south. The feature was named descriptively in a 1935 British chart. Rakovski Nunatak (Rakovski Nunatak \ra-'kov-ski 'nu-na-tak\) is a rocky peak of elevation 430 m in Vidin Heights on Varna Peninsula, Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. Miziya Peak ( bg, връх Мизия, vrah Miziya, ) is the 604 m summit of Vidin Heights on Varna Peninsula, eastern Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. The peak overlooks Kaliakra Glacier to the south, and Saedinenie Snowfield to the northwest. Samuel Peak is the 540 m peak in central Vidin Heights, Livingston Island, in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. Surmounting Panega Glacier to the east and Kaliakra Glacier to the south. Madara Rider
The Madara Rider or Madara Horseman ( bg, Мадарски конник, ''Madarski konnik'') is an early medieval large rock relief carved on the Madara Plateau east of Shumen in northeastern Bulgaria, near the village of Madara. The monument is dated in the very late 7th, or more often very early 8th century, during the reign of Bulgar Khan Tervel. In 1979 became enlisted on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Description The relief depicts a majestic horseman above ground level in an almost vertical -high cliff. It is of almost natural size. The horseman, facing right, is thrusting a spear into a lion lying at his horse's feet, and on the left a dog is running after the horseman. The carving of the horseman's halo and garments, as well as the bird in front of the horseman's face, are barely recognizable due to the erosion and bad condition of the monument.
