Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology (MMMUT) is a university in Gorakhpur. It was established in 2013 by upgrading Madan Mohan Malaviya Engineering College (MMMEC) into a university. . History MMMUT has its roots with Madan Mohan Malaviya Engineering College (MMMEC), established in 1962. In October 2012, the Government of Uttar Pradesh announced that it will upgrade the college into a residential university, quoting the lack of technical education in Uttar Pradesh since the reorganisation of 2000, when Roorkee University went to Uttrakhand. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is a methodology adopted by the Ministry of Education (India), Ministry of Education, Government of India, to rank institutions of higher education in India. The Framework was approved by the MHRD and launched by Minister of Human Resource Development on 29 September 2015. Depending on their areas of operation, institutions have been ranked under 11 different categories – overall, university, colleges, engineering, management, pharmacy, law, medical, architecture, dental and research. The Framework uses several parameters for ranking purposes like resources, research, and stakeholder perception. In India, state universities are run and funded by the state government of each of the states of India. Following the adoption of the Constitution of India in 1950, education became a state responsibility.
