''Madame Wants No Children'' (German: ''Madame wünscht keine Kinder'') is a 1933 Austrian-German comedy film directed by Hans Steinhoff and starring Liane Haid, Georg Alexander and Lucie Mannheim. It is a remake of the 1926 silent film '' Madame Wants No Children''. It was shot at the Sievering Studios in Vienna. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Otto Erdmann, Hans Sohnle and Emil Stepanek. Hans Steinhoff
Hans Steinhoff (10 March 1882 – 20 April 1945) was a German film director, best known for the propaganda films he made in the Nazi era. Life and career Steinhoff started his career as a stage actor in the 1900s and later worked as a stage director. He directed his first silent film '' Clothes Make the Man'', the adaption of a novel by Gottfried Keller, in 1921. Steinhoff was a convinced Nazi and directed many propaganda films, he sometimes even wore his Nazi party membership button on the film set. His most notable films were perhaps '' Hitlerjunge Quex'' (1933), an influential propaganda film for the Hitler Youth, and '' Ohm Krüger'' (1940), for which he won the Mussolini Cup at the 1941 Venice Film Festival. On April 20, 1945, during the last war days, Steinhoff tried to escape from Berlin on the last scheduled Lufthansa flight. ''Madame Wants No Children'' (german: Madame wünscht keine Kinder) is a 1926 German silent drama film directed by Alexander Korda and starring María Corda, Harry Liedtke and Maria Paudler. It is based on the novel ''Madame ne veut pas d'enfants'' by the French writer Clément Vautel. The film was made for the American Fox Film Corporation's German subsidiary. The film was shot at Tempelhof Studios in late 1926. It was the last European film Korda made until 1930 as he left for the United States shortly after its production (although an earlier film, '' A Modern Dubarry'', premiered later). Hans Moser (6 August 1880 – 19 June 1964) was an Austrian actor who, during his long career, from the 1920s up to his death, mainly played in comedy films. He was particularly associated with the genre of the ''Wiener Film''. Moser appeared in over 150 films. Otto Wallburg
Otto Wallburg (21 February 1889 – 29 October 1944) was a German actor and Kabarett performer. He was a prolific film actor during the late silent and early sound era. Wallburg was born Otto Maximilian Wasserzug in Berlin, the son of a Jewish banker. He drifted into stage acting, but served in the German Army during the First World War and was wounded on the Eastern Front after winning an Iron Cross. From 1926 onwards he worked in the large German film industry, including many productions made by UFA. When the Nazis came to power in 1933 he left Germany and moved to Austria where he continued to work in film. He later moved to France and then on to the Netherlands. He was arrested following the 1940 German invasion of the Netherlands. He was held for a while at Westerbork transit camp, and later moved to Auschwitz where he was killed. Emil Stepanek (21 February 1895 – 12 April 1945) was an Austrian set designer and film architect. Biography Stepanek was born in Vienna, the son of a carpenter, and received a training in stage set construction, in which he worked for several years. Between 1916 and 1918 he had to perform military service. After the end of World War I he returned to his work in theatres. In 1919 he had his first contact with the film industry.
