Lochbuie, Mull
Lochbuie ( gd, Locha Buidhe, meaning "yellow loch") is a settlement on the Isle of Mull in Scotland about west of Craignure. Geography Once known as the "Garden of Mull", the fertile land around the main village of seventeen houses is surrounded by hills, with the narrow valley to the east containing both Loch Uisg and the only road to the estate. The settlement lies at the head of Loch Buie, a sea loch which contains the tidal islands of Eilean Mòr and Eilean Uamh Ghuaidhre. Frank Lockwood's Island (or Eilean Sneth Dian) lies in the Firth of Lorne, just offshore from the Laggan peninsula to the south. This island is named after Frank Lockwood who was Solicitor General for England and Wales from 1894 to 1895 and the brother-in-law of the 21st MacLean of Lochbuie. James MacLaine
"Captain" James Maclaine (occasionally "Maclean", "MacLean", or "Maclane") (1724 – 3 October 1750) was an Irish man of a respectable presbyterian family who had a brief but notorious career as a mounted highwayman in London with his accomplice William Plunkett. He was known as "The Gentleman Highwayman" as a result of his courteous behaviour during his robberies, and obtained a certain kind of celebrity. Notoriously, he held up and robbed Horace Walpole at gunpoint: eventually he was hanged at Tyburn. The film ''Plunkett & Macleane'' was based loosely on his exploits. Christopher Maclaine (born Clifford Vernard McClain; July 27, 1923 – April 6, 1975) was an American poet and filmmaker. Early life Maclaine was born July 27, 1923 in Wapanucka, Oklahoma. His family was of Scottish descent. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, graduating in 1946 with a bachelor's degree in Spanish. He began a graduate program in English but left after one semester. Career After leaving UC Berkeley, Maclaine started the literary magazine ''Contour'' with Norma Smith. Scottish Gaelic ( gd, Gàidhlig ), also known as Scots Gaelic and Gaelic, is a Goidelic language (in the Celtic branch of the Indo-European language family) native to the Gaels of Scotland. He is the founder and chief executive officer of Fundamental Media, an international media planning and research company.
