Mackenzie River is a locality in the Isaac Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Mackenzie River had a population of 71 people. Geography The Mackenzie River forms the southern and eastern boundary of the locality. In the far north of the locality are two protected areas, the Junee National Park and the Junee State Forest. The locality is within the Bowen Basin coalfields and there are a number of active coal mines in the locality, including Foxleigh, Oak Park and Lake Lindsay coal mines with other areas being considered for future mines. Railway lines for the Blackwater rail system pass through the south of the locality. However, the mines within the locality are not serviced by these lines but via the lines in neighbouring Middlemount. The Fitzroy Developmental Road passes from south-east to north-west through the locality. The Mackenzie River is a river located in Central Queensland, Australia. The Mackenzie River is a major tributary of the Fitzroy River, part of the largest river catchment flowing to the eastern coast of Australia. Course and features Formed by the confluence of the Comet and Nogoa rivers flowing from the Expedition Range, the river rises north of and flows generally north by east towards the Broadsound Range. North of the settlement of , the river flows south by east and west of the Goodedulla National Park towards and splits as an anabranch on multiple occasions. Kilcoy Homestead
Kilcoy Homestead is a heritage-listed homestead at Kilcoy-Murgon Road, Winya, Somerset Region, Queensland, Australia. It was built . It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992. History Kilcoy Homestead, a single-storeyed, substantial brick residence, was constructed c.1857, for the Hon. Louis Hope, British aristocrat and Queensland grazier, sugar plantation owner and politician. The remnants of the early brick cottage on the site, also erected for Hope, date to the mid-1860s. The Kilcoy run had been taken up as a sheep station by brothers Evan and Colin Mackenzie, of Kilcoy, Scotland, who had started clearing the land and erecting huts by early July 1841. Fitzroy Developmental Road
The Fitzroy Developmental Road is a designated road in the Central Highlands Region of Queensland consisting of three separate sections. The general direction is from south to north. Route description Southern section The southern section leaves the Leichhardt Highway at a point north of Taroom as State Route 7. This section meets the Dawson Highway in the locality of Rhydding, east of Bauhinia. Middle section The middle section, as State Route 7, runs from Bauhinia north until it meets the Capricorn Highway about west of Duaringa, and east of Dingo. Blackwater Railway System
The Blackwater railway system is located in Central Queensland and services the coal mining area of the Bowen Basin. It carries coal, as well as products, to other destinations by way of connections to the North Coast Line at Rocklands and the Goonyella Line via Gregory coal mine to Oaky Creek. Together with the Moura line the two railway systems are known as the Capricornia Coal Chain. The Blackwater system is narrow gauge and electrified using 25 kV 50 Hz. The system is used by both electric and diesel locomotives. The Blackwater system has the largest route length of the four coal systems and carries the second highest tonnages on the QR network, after the Goonyella system.
