Machico, Madeira
Machico () is a municipality, parish and city in the southeast part of the island of Madeira, in the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The easternmost municipality on the island, it is also the third-most populous area with a population of 21,828 in 2011. The town, proper, had a population of 10,894 in 2001. History In calm waters of early after, on 1 July 1419, João Gonçalves Zarco and Tristão Vaz Teixeira disembarked on the beach of Machico, beginning the era of Portuguese discoveries. On the beach a Mass of thanksgiving was celebrated by Franciscan priests on the feast of the Visitation (2 June), an image of which accompanied the expedition. Furnas Do Cavalum

Santo António da Serra ( pt, Saint Anthony ''of the mountain'') is a civil parish in the interior of the municipality of Machico, on the island of Madeira. Porto Da Cruz
Porto da Cruz (, is a civil parish in the municipality of Machico in the northeastern corner of Madeira. The population in 2011 was 2,597, in an area of 25.22 km². History The origin of the community's name came from the fact that the original discoverer affixed a steel cross at the port, in order to better identify the location to ocean travelers. During the early settlement of the northern coast, goods destined for the northern communities (such as Santo António da Serra) were offloaded in the harbor. The parish of Porto da Cruz was created on 26 September 1577, by Jerónimo Barreto, establishing as its patron ''Nossa Senhora da Piedade'' ( en, Our Lady of Piety). Ponta De São Lourenço
Ponta de São Lourenço (Portuguese for the "Point of Saint Lawrence") is the easternmost point of the island of Madeira. It is inside the town of Caniçal and forms a part of the municipality of Machico. Its terrain are made up of rocks and herbaceous vegetation. Since 1982, the headland is a nature reserve, where it has the conservation of its endemic plants including ''Matthiola maderensis'', '' Echium nervosum'', and ''Andryala glandulosa'', and it has fauna, including birds, insects, and molluscs. One of them is ''Monachus monachus'', a seal. Marine fauna are in the waters surrounding the headland. Northeast of the islet is Porto Santo, and southeast is Bugio and the Deserted Islands. Água De Pena
Água de Pena is a civil parish in the municipality of Machico on the south-east coast of the Portuguese island of Madeira. The population in 2011 was 2,434, in an area of 5.15 km². History The area of Água de Pena was first sighted by the crew and explorers with João Gonçalves Zarco after he disembarked along the coastal spillway of Machico, likely around July 1419; the escarpment of Penedo overlook the beach of Machico, and the crew encamped in the shadow of the promontory overnight, before exploring the island the next day. Caniçal () is a civil parish in the municipality of Machico in the Portuguese island of Madeira. The population in 2011 was 3,924, in an area of 11.85 km2. Equidistant from Funchal and Santana (20 km), the community is connected to these centres by the Regional 109 roadway. Caniçal is now the principal cargo port in Madeira. Living in this parish is a 109 year old man as of March 7, 2021. Porto Santo Island
