Football In North Macedonia
Football is the most popular sport in North Macedonia. The country became a member of FIFA in 1994. The national team has made a few remarkable results in qualifiers for the European Championship as well as the World Cup. The most sensational result was probably the 2–2 draw away against England (October 2002). Two years later the Netherlands were held to a 2–2 draw at home (October 2004). The away-game the following year in Amsterdam also ended with a draw (0–0). On October 7, 2006, once again England was held to a draw in Manchester. Enis Bardhi ( mk, Eнис Барди; born 2 July 1995) is a Macedonian professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Turkish club Trabzonspor and the North Macedonia national team. Club career Early career Born in Skopje to Albanian parents, Bardhi started his early career at KF Skupi. He later joined the Brøndby IF's youth system in 2013. In November of that year, however, he agreed to a one-year professional deal with Swedish Football Division 2 club KSF Prespa Birlik. Stefan Ristovski ( mk, Стефан Ристовски; born 12 February 1992) is a Macedonian footballer who plays as a right-back for Dinamo Zagreb and the North Macedonia national team. Club career Born in Skopje, Ristovski began his career at hometown club Vardar before he signed a five-year deal with Italian club Parma in January 2010. He was 17 at the time but the deal could not become official until he turned 18. Ristovski joined Serie B club Crotone on loan on 6 July 2011. After not receiving much playing time, the loan was cancelled in the January 2012 and he was then loaned to Frosinone for the remainder of the campaign. Vlatko Kostov ( mk, Влатко Костов; born 1 September 1965 in Štip, Yugoslavia) is a former Yugoslav and Macedonian football midfielder. He used to manage FK Renova, who became champions in Macedonia for the 2009–10 season. After the year, Renova and Kostov could not reach a deal and they parted. Gjorgji "Gjore" Jovanovski ( mk, Ѓopѓи "Ѓope" Joвaнoвcки; born 22 March 1956) is a Macedonian football manager and former player. Playing career As a player, he played for FK Vardar and Red Star Belgrade in the Yugoslav First League and for Turkish club Samsunspor and Ankaragücü. Milan Đurić (; born 22 May 1990) is a Bosnian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Serie A club Hellas Verona.
