Macedonia Football Clubs Association
Macedonia Football Clubs Association ( el, Ένωση Ποδοσφαιρικών Σωματείων Μακεδονίας ''Énosi Podosferikón Somatíon Makedonías'' or Ε.Π.Σ.Μ.) is an association responsible for administering football in the Prefecture of Thessaloniki. It was formed in 1924 as ''Football Union of Macedonia and Thrace'' ( el, Ποδοσφαιρική Ένωση Μακεδονίας Θράκης ''Podosferikí Énosi Makedonías Thrákis'') and it administrated football in the regions of West Macedonia, Central Macedonia and East Macedonia and Thrace. Since 1935 its area of responsibility was restricted within the borders of the Prefecture of Thessaloniki. Founding members of the union were Aris, Iraklis and Megas Alexandros. The Football League ( el, Φούτμπολ Λιγκ) was the second highest professional football league in Greece since its inception in 1962 as ''Beta Ethniki'' and until 2019. Makedonikos B.C. (Greek: Μακεδονικός K.A.E.) is a Greek professional basketball club. The club is located in Neapoli, Thessaloniki, Greece. The parent athletic club was founded in 1928, and the basketball department was founded in 1948. Makedonikos means " Macedonian" in Greek. History Makedonikos won the Greek A2 League, which is the second-tier league in Greece, in the years 2000 and 2002. During the 2001–02 season, the team set the then A2 season record for most wins, with 24. Makedonikos was the runner-up of the EuroCup's 2004–05 season. The Gamma Ethniki ( el, Γ΄ Εθνική Ερασιτεχνική Κατηγορία, C National Amateur Division) is the third highest football league in Greece.
