Maccabi Rishon LeZion ( he, מכבי ראשון לציון) is a basketball club based in Rishon LeZion, Israel. The club plays in the Liga Leumit (basketball), Liga Leumit, the second tier of Israeli basketball. The greatest achievement of the club has been winning the 2016 Israeli Basketball Premier League championship. The club is one of the most popular basketball clubs in Israel, and has played in the Israeli Basketball Premier League since 1989. Liga Leumit ( he, ליגה לאומית, lit. ''National League'') is the second tier level league of basketball competition in Israel. It is the league level that is below the first tier Israeli Basketball Premier League, Israeli Premier League. League system The league contains 15 clubs that compete in a home-and-away Round-robin tournament, round-robin. At the end of the season, the top eight clubs advance to the play-offs. Andre Spencer
Andre Devell Spencer (July 20, 1964 – August 4, 2020) was an American professional basketball player. He was a 6' 6" (198 cm) 210 lb (95 kg) forward and played collegiately for Bakersfield College, a junior college, and the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks. He played for three teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA), and for six seasons in the Israeli Basketball Premier League. Biography He played basketball for Los Angeles-Manual Arts High. He then played basketball for the Bakersfield College Renegades from 1982 to 1984. He then attended Northern Arizona University where he earned all-Big Sky Conference honors for the Lumberjacks in 1986. In 1985 he was second in steals (47) and steals per game (1.6) in the Big Sky Conference, third in points (548) and points per game (18.9), and 8th in rebounds (174) and rebounds per game (8.0). Omar Sneed
Omar Shariff Sneed (born October 9, 1976) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is the head coach for the Beaumont Panthers of The Basketball League (TBL). A Texas native, Sneed played high school basketball at West Brook in Beaumont. He then played two years in junior college at San Jacinto, being named a first team NJCAA All-American. He played his junior and senior seasons in the NCAA Division I with the Memphis Tigers, being a two-time all-conference selection. After going undrafted in the 1999 NBA draft, Sneed started his professional career in Colombia. The Israel State Cup ( he, גביע המדינה, ''Gvia HaMedina''), is a knockout cup competition in Israeli football, run by the Israel Football Association (IFA). The State Cup was first held in 1928 as the People's Cup. Because it involves clubs of all standards playing against each other, there is the possibility for "minnows" from the lower divisions to become "giant-killers" by eliminating top clubs from the tournament, although lower division teams rarely reach the final.
